Ureshino Onsen, Ureshino
Situated 32 km from Huis Ten Bosch, Ureshino Yadoya offers accommodation with a balcony, as well as an open-air bath and a garden. It was a luxurious hotel in the Onsen town of Ureshino that completely blew us away. The rooms were large and spacious, very well appointed and well laid out. The staff were extremely attentive and there were lots common areas to relax in. The open air onsen and saunas were also well laid out. A bit on the expensive side but a great place to splurge once in a while!

Ryokan Yoshidaya offers accommodation in Ureshino. Guests can enjoy the on-site restaurant. Free private parking is available on site. Saga Airport can be reached with a 60-minute bus ride. We found everything was great here, the room, the private and public hot bath; the food and the staff. The location of Ryokan Yoshidaya is excellent. It is close to the river where it has a road of sakura. We had a perfect walk in the morning and the view was absolutely gorgeous. We stayed at Worikara, a villa just a stone's throw away from its main ryokan and a perfect place for us to relax and unwind after a day's hike. We liked the breakfast and the dinner which were rich in varieties and taste. Finally, we must give credits to the staff who served us. They were friendly, helpful and patient to answer our questions. The translation system in the mobile phones they were using was perfect to break the language barrier and in fact, some of the staff who served us spoke excellent English. Our only regret was that we had no time to visit its cafe. We would definitely stay at this ryokan again when we visit Fukuoka again next year.

In the heart of Ureshino Onsen Hot Springs, Taishoya boasts large hot spring baths with spectacular nature decors, Japanese rooms with mountain views and free-use bicycles. This was a wonderful stay and the Japanese-styled room was comfortable for three of us. We loved the traditional welcome of helpful friendliness informing us that we should catch the shuttle bus to the mountain onsen in time to make it down for dinner. Lovely! I am always concerned about inconveniencing the chef with my gluten-free food needs. It took some pre-communication and effort, but I really wanted my friends to experience the traditional kaiseki experience which is difficult (not possible) to provide as gluten-free in many ryokan. The staff and chef were able to provide kaiseki to my friends and for me a non-traditional meal which was exceptionally wonderful! I am forever thankful for their care and effort in making the meals and onsen a wonderful experience. There are several onsen choices. In the morning, my friends went to the larger one which they said felt like being in a forest, and I went to the smaller lower-level one with pond, Koi and waterfall. The evening mountain onsen was truly a treat and I only wish I knew in advance to allow more time, but we were able to do a nice soak before dinner. This was one of the best ryokan experiences I have had and I would certainly return. My Japanese friends agreed. We didn't see much of the town, but we would go back for that as well since it looked like an interesting stroll. Many other nearby attractions from important shrines, tea fields, and lovely pottery kiln town of Hasami to the Arita porcelain towns and museums as well. Top experience!
