Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor. We love everything about Magome Chaya! I loved the traditional style and we appreciate dearly the hosts namely Ms Jeng with her husband and Ms Maria! Outstanding service! The guesthouse is clean and even though the bathrooms are shared, its adequate for all the guests. The highlight of our stay is the dinner and breakfast! Amazing food served with love and presented in an extremely beautiful manner!

Featuring mountain views and a garden, 馬籠ふるさと学校 Magome Furusato Gakkou offers accommodation attractively situated in Nakatsugawa, within a short distance of Toson Memorial Museum, Magome Wakihonjin... I really enjoyed our stay at Magome. We hired a car and drove from Tokyo to Osaka via the mountains, and decided to stay here as a one-night stay. I really wish we stayed longer. The staff are really friendly, and when we were there, it was super quiet and relaxing. The view of the mountain ranges from the window was really cool. The repurposed school is a funky idea, but the reality was an incredibly spacious stay (especially for Japan standards), and incredibly homely vibes. Big, wide hallways and creature comforts. A real communal feeling. We stayed in the twin bedroom as we're a family, and we were really happy with it. I'll also mention how friendly the staff were. They really enjoyed hanging out with us and interacting with our 2-year old. They even sat and did origami with us until late at night.
