A fabulous experience to return to old style French town centre hotels which offer such a cosy and comfortable environment. So many of these hotels have been lost to the advance of tasteless plastic style hotels on out of town industrial estates. The Hotel de Paris in Bescancon is a true hotel, abounding with architectural and decorational pleasures. For breakast, which is delicious and varied, the dining hall is graciously elegant with a natural wood squeaky floor and on warm days, the outdoor breakfast terrace is marvellous, or for after breakfast coffee. And while enjoying fresh air coffee, admire the beautiful stone architecture. We must all stay in these hotels, in towns, otherwise they will be lost for ever. Car parking at the hotel is limited, however, the nearby underground car park which seems very secure, charged me only one Euro from 7pm to 8am !!

This hotel is set in the heart of Besançon, just 700 metres from the banks of the Doubs River. Guests have free Wi-Fi internet access and are invited to relax in the hotel's lounge bar. Hotel staff was really kind. Breakfast was really nice with fresh orange juice and bakery. Parking is nearby and they accompany you after unloading your baggage. Thanks again for everything!

The Best Western Citadelle is located in the historic city center of Besançon, a 5-minute walk from the Doubs River and the Citadelle. Free Wi-Fi is available in the rooms. Brilliant hotel for cyclists, eurovelo6 virtually goes past the front door. Great rooms and breakfast and easy walk to the old town and restaurants. Nice and friendly staff as well.

Located in Besançon, Hotel Vauban a 2-minute walk from the Museum of Fine Arts and an 18-minute walk from the Citadel of Besançon. It offers free internet access, a 24-hour front desk and a terrace. The hotel is in the center of the city, our room overlooked the river, the view could not have been nicer. The proprietor was very helpful and welcoming. A great breakfast, and a very stylish room.

Hotel Régina is situated conveniently in Besançon, and features a garden, free WiFi and a terrace. Our host was so caring, whilst having no English, worked with us to use goggle translate.

Situated in the centre of Besançon, 1.1 km from Besançon-Mouillère train station, Appartement avec sauna au pied de la citadelle features accommodation with free WiFi and a sauna. Lovely spacious apartment, the sauna was icing on the top. It had everything we needed and was a great place to relax or use as a base for sightseeing.
