The lodge is simply stunning. The cabin/bedroom is spacious and clean, with an amazing view of the bush. The staff is welcoming and very professional. I've had a great massage in the spa—highly recommended! Our guide (Ricardo) was the best. He's passionate about his work, knowledgeable, and professional.

Kololo Game Reserve, hotel in Welgevonden Game Reserve

Kololo Game Reserve is located in the captivating province of Limpopo, nestled within the picturesque Waterberg biosphere.

Our cottage was actually a fully equipped house with lounge, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms. Very big and well maintained, and fully equipped. Plus private swimming pool and a big terrace with amazing views. I liked the walk from our cottage to the restaurant, though some people would prefer to drive (the property offers a shuttle service). Staff is very friendly. Food is not 5-star but certainly very good. The game drives were amazing. All in all, a very relaxing and beautiful place.

The lodge is lovely and comfortable. The fireplace on in the evening, water bottle on the night stand and the slippers by the bed at night were extra welcoming. Malvin was an excellent guide, very experienced, attentive, and dedicated to finding the animals we wanted to see. George and Bongani took great care of us, making sure we were always comfortable, and never hungry or thirsty. Chef Sophie and the team delivered quite high quality cuisine, tasty and varied dishes, the highlight being the Braai.

The location is lovely, wildlife all around , we had visit from the Giraffe, Zebra, Impala and buffalo in the vicinity of our tents. The Staff are super lovely willing to help with everything. Joe and Clement were both standout amazing! The owner was very accommodating and made loads of recommendations to make our stay with our toddler and pet dog as comfortable as possible. The tents are lovely and clean ( we took the daily cleaning option), completely worth it. Owner even organised a Potjie Pot, Coffee plunger our Pet dog (there were strict rules, in order to maintain people and animals (wildlife and pets) safety) on request.

Beautiful lodge with incredible potential if managed properly. Our driver, Zandile, was very knowledgeable and told us many things about nature that we didn’t know. She was always friendly and professional at all times. Both chefs, Johannes and Cornelius were very kind. Food was good, although not a big choice.

Our stay at this establishment was nothing short of extraordinary. The warmth and hospitality of the staff, the comfortable and well-appointed room, the thrilling game drive, and the unforgettable moments with the elephants all combined to create a truly unforgettable experience. I can't recommend this place enough, and I look forward to returning in the future. Thank you, Piet, Stuart, Chef Ash, and the entire staff, for making our stay a truly special one.

Welgevonden is by far my favourite wildlife destination in South Africa. It is an easy 3-4 hour drive from Johannesburg, in a malaria-free area and the game reserve is scientifically and ethically managed by professionals. The animals and their wellbeing are the priority and that is exactly how it should be.

We arrived at the West Gate of Welgevonden around 12pm.

We arrived at the West Gate of Welgevonden around 12pm. We parked and left our car for 3 days. Nedile Lodge arranged transfer to their hotel via a safari vehicle. This was a very beautiful 20/30 minute drive. All meals are at your selected lodge. You may not drive freely within the reserve. A Game Ranger will always drive you around the reserve. The reserve is well managed and the animals are well protected. Breakfast was after the first game drive at 10am, lunch followed at 2pm. The 2nd game drive was at 4pm. Dinner was served around 7.30pm. This schedule is repeated every day.

Very clear traveling instructions took us to the West Gate where we traveled with our guide to the lodge. A warm welcome from Martin and team set the tone for the weekend. The rooms are beyond beautiful, private, huge and impeccable clean. Every meal was delicious and beautifully presented. The game drives was amazing, our guide made it interesting, fun and made sure we get to see more of the rich wildlife. We loved every moment of our stay at Sediba, thank you to Martin and team, and Bella our housekeeper for the surprise in our room!

I have been to many big 5 game reserves, this one however is underrated and a real Gem!! we saw 4 of the big 5 on our first game drive. The Lodge we stayed at was Exceptional and the reserve itself is one of the most ecologically diverse and beautiful reserves I have every visited.
