What a view! Lovely home to stay in, with a stocked fireplace. Erika is an amazing host. We enjoyed our time with the Nguni heard and it was a pleasure to wake up with such stunning views. My son loved playing with Benji (the dog). Easy access to Sani Pass and nearby shops. I can highly recommend.

Trish & her husband were so welcoming. We arrived later in the evening after a very long drive. The cottage had everything we needed to be self sufficient. We cooked a meal in the evening. We were planning to drive the Sani Pass the following day & they gave us advice on the drive. Himeville is such a beautiful place. On Trish's recommendation we had lunch at the Stone House Kitchen the following day & the food was great. We will definitely return next time we are in SA.

We were in a lodge and our friends were in the next one. We all ate together. A
Meal was supplied the first night as arranged. It was roast chicken and all trimmings and was delicious. The next night we had a barbecue with loads of meat provided. We had chicken piri piri and chicken curry. Everything was very tasty.
We went to Himeville by taxi from San Lameer. It was a 4 hour drive but interesting route. We went up the Sani Valley pass to Lesotho which was a long and challenging route in a Land Cruiser. That was an organised day trip. Amazing views.
We would not have gone to San Lameer for a night if we come again. We returned direct to Durban.

I didn't realise that the trip from the Howick turn off was 160kms long, the road had many potholes, so better to drive it in the day time.
I loved the museum, the Christmas market and the Angora weaving place.
The people were very friendly and helpful.
Definitely worth a return visit.

Himeville is a sweet little country town with a weaving shop, antiques shop, quite a few nice restaurants and cafes, and a very informative museum run by volunteers as a labour of love. It is close to the hiking trails and Sani Pass.

Peaceful place, scenery is amazing with beautiful views of the mountain. The food is delicious, especially dinner- thanks to the Chef and catering staff. The price for nibbles very reasonable. The bar is a lovely place to unwind after hiking. Very friendly staff and superb service. A great location closer to Sani Pass Lesotho. I will definitely visit again. The Spa could be more accommodating.... I arrived an hour or so before the close but could not slot me in😑. Had an early tour the next day, so we missed the Spa.
