I've stayed at this hotel a few times when I come home to visit. But this time, the customer service was exceptional. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly. I really hate that I can't remember their names, but they went above and beyond.
Also, the new bar & restaurant Ari'z, which is attached to the hotel, was amazing! The atmosphere, food, and customer were spectacular. That is a great addition!!

Well its not the hotels fault but on booking.com they offered a room with a spa bath. When we arrived there was no spa bath and the lady working said none of the rooms had that feature. We paid double for the spa bath compared to the rest of the rooms. So nothing bad on the hotel. It just bites i have to jump through hoops to get try getting a refund from booking.com since the hotel cant do it even though i paid directly at the hotel, walked in the room that was falsely advertised then left

there was nothing about the Howard Johnson I would recommend. they called me the day of my stay and told me I didn't have a room. they then said they could change my 2 rooms to the honeymoon suite for a big discount since it was their mistake. got there and the onsite staff was nice and gave us a rate of $77.00 but now my card got charged $141.00. I am so mad at the entire situation I will never use a Wyndem hotel again they are crooks.

The people of Waterloo are kind and friendly.
The people of Waterloo are kind and friendly. Everyone we passed said hello or gave a smile...definitely don't get much of that where we are from. Our hotel was literally in the middle of everything. We had many choices of restaurants and shopping. Can't wait to go back.

We only visited for the OHV park, if Waterloo didn't have an OHV park we'd never have visited. We called the police at the OHV park because there was street riders in the parking lot doing stunts the entire time and were super rude, vulgar and very unsafe, the police came and DID NOTHING!

They say you can never go back home, and its true.
They say you can never go back home, and its true. I lived in Waterloo for 30 years, and the changes that the people in charge of the town have made in the past 30 years have been terrible. The parks that I had to play in are all gone. Nothing left for a child's imagination. The shopping malls are now a joke, poorly maintained, no more anchor stores in them, a lot of empty spaces. The main drag through town to Cedar Falls is torn up, not for road repair, but for the whim of those that believe it is progress to put in round-a-bouts. In the mean time, the rest of the town has turned into a ghetto with boarded up stores and houses. The majority of the town looks trashy.
99.999% of my stay was perfect - from Eric at the front deak to the breakfast ladies to the owner of the hotel, the staff was friendly and professional. The facility was clean, the room was large, parking was seemless, the bed was comfortable, and water pressure was good from the shower.
The hotel was very clean, spacious and sympathetically renovated to maintain a lot of the original features. We loved it. Our room was very big. staff were Excellent & a special mention to Ruth who went above & beyond.
A credit to the hotel.
Breakfast was great! The place was clean and I felt the people working there CARED alot about my stay. I've stayed at some places that were very questionable. Not county Suites in Waterloo!!! Loved the pool and hot tub to relax 😍 thank you!
Location to interstate. Room size. Becky Beerman was on duty when we checked in. She helped make our stay very comfortable. Helped us with all of our questons. Very friendly , professional and helpful! She was awesome!!!!!
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and clutter-free. The lobby, the breakfast area, and the rooms are very well designed. The renovation from what the hotel used to be to what is now was money well spent!
The ladies in the kitchen did a great job well and beyond I think that deserve a raise the ladies were 2 African American ladies they worked at the Hampton Hilton Waterloo Iowa on Laport Rd
The front desk gave 2 men a key to my room. They walkwd in on my husband ans I at 3 am. Im getting a lawyer. I fearedfor my life and now I nervous about being in a hotel room.
Good cheap hotel in a pinch, owners live there and seems like the hotel has other long term tenants also but was clean as it could be and very big room but super old.
Location was ok. Wasn’t anything at the hotel I liked except the night staff girl found my hubby wallet and got it back to us! Other than that wasn’t that great.
