I have stayed here a few times and always enjoy the staff. They are friendly but not in a fake kind of way. I also appreciate that the location is tucked away from the main streets and has security on location.

The Hotel Lucia is located in the downtown area. There were many closed businesses with FOR LEASE signs in the windows. There are a LOT of homeless people in the area and we were constantly asked for food, money and cigarettes. We watched from down the street when a security guard got into a shouting match with one of the homeless people that he was trying to remove from a doorway where the homeless man was sleeping up against the Hotel Lucia. We were impressed with the sanitation efforts of the city; there are trash cans on every street. There are city employees that empty the trashcans & pick up trash and cigarette butts off the streets and sidewalks. We also liked the transportation methods in Portland; there are trolleys, trams, bicycles and scooters on nearly every street. The nearest bicycles and scooters can be found via an online app, you can go wherever you want and park. Then the bicycle or scooter is available for anyone to use.

On this trip I discovered East Portland.
On this trip I discovered East Portland. Fun, funky, and great exploring. I recommend spending more time in the east neighborhoods and less time downtown. For future trips, I'll stay in East Portland and just take public transport to the tourist stuff I want to do downtown.

Portland was pretty. The City still needs plenty of help.
Portland was pretty. The City still needs plenty of help. Lots of businesses are closed, boarded up. That's sad to see. Overall, it's lovely in other parts of town. China town was a mess with the homeless. We rode the Hop On/Hop off which was nice but don't get off in China Town. The Japanese Gardens and the International Rose Test Garden was gorgeous. The waterfalls are a must see as well as the mansion (Pittock) which is beautiful along with the self guided tour. Cannon Beach is nice if it's sunny. It was pouring down rain when we went on our tour along with high winds so you could not see anything clearly. The breweries are nice. Good beer! There are plenty of food trucks downtown if you want something quick. Huber's is nice to have dinner, oldest restaurant in Portland, unique and clean. There are nice views of the City from the (2) tallest buildings in Portland where restaurants are located. Go to the largest book store in the world, very nice! Overall, it's a pretty city and easy to get around from one end to the other. And of course, get a doughnut at Voodoo Doughnuts! It's a thing.

Great place to visit on the East coast.
Great place to visit on the East coast. Many options of forest walks within public transport of town , the gorge out east or the beaches out west.
Just a great shame that the homeless problem never seems to leave these cities.

We enjoyed exploring the west side of Portland from Park...
We enjoyed exploring the west side of Portland from Park Lane Suites where we stayed. NW 23rd and NW 21st are fun streets with great shops and restaurants. The old neighborhoods are fun to walk through, admiring the historic houses and beautiful gardens. (May is a great time to see all the blooming rhododendrons!)
We enjoyed Papa Haydn's on NW 23rd. We also had a fun evening at Old Town Pizza. We first took their Shanghai Underground Tour complete with beer tasting and then enjoyed their pizza!
West Portland is full of great hiking trails in Washington Park, Hoyt Arboretum, and Forest Park.
Large room with balcony on street (quiet, though). Good location for walking to Pearl District/downtown, right on street car line for public transportation. Breakfast has to be eaten in room due to COVID; basically Continental (pastry, yoghurt, fruit, cereal). A real 60's color scheme - so just be prepared for lots of colors!
This was a perfect stay for us for three nights in Portland. Some guests probably like the kitchenette but we didn't use it except for toaster. Liked the large room and bathroom, onsite parking.
such great staff and delicious breakfast. Mike catered to my allergy needs happily and squeezed fresh orange juice for the diners. the front desk came outside to find me when I couldn’t find the parking garage entrance and led me in. the room and hotel in general were nice and quiet, got a great nights sleep. rooms were nicely appointed and super clean. convenient bus stop right outside to go wherever you want in downtown Portland. also not too many sketchy people around like other parts of Portland these days.
Perfect location to explore Portland. Three of us stayed in one of their suites and we had plenty of space for everyone. Having a kitchenette was a huge bonus for us with Trader Joe's and a couple of other grocery stores near by which allowed us to prepare breakfast at the hotel. Another big bonus is the free parking as we rented a car and didn't have to worry about paying for parking. Overall this is the best deal you can get in Portland for the money.
the hotel in a great location for us (close to Powell's books) and is immaculately clean, quiet and comfortable with friendly and helpful staff. We were happy to see that this area of downtown Portland was still enjoyable after all the recent difficulties the city has had. We enjoyed the food at Cheryl's on 12th which the Mark Spencer has a relationship with for room service (we ate in the restaurant rather than using room service however)
Friendly, helpful, and knowledge staff. Easy freeway access, only a few min drive to downtown, Pearl District, and Old Town. Free coffee all day. Free and ample parking, dog friendly. Indoor slippers, bench for luggage/putting on shoes, and black makeup towels are a nice touch. Deluxe King room is bigger than the picture shows and has a nicely equipped kitchen with a full size fridge. Sound proofing between rooms is better than expected.
Scott and Amy are always kind and helpful to me every time I stay at the Sure Stay (Best Western) 4th avenue downtown Portland Oregon. Both are professional and seem to go above and beyond to assist and accommodate my needs whenever I stay there(which is often 😎🙂) I recommend the Best Western Sure Stay without hesitation whatsoever and strongly suggest it to anyone who is in the greater downtown Portland Oregon area budget or not.
Great downtown location. We are long time visitors at this old classic Portland hotel. But this was our first visit since the change of ownership. The rooms have been nicely updated. We went during an epic snow and ice storm as we had been without power at home for 4 days. There were many challenges for the staff posed by the storm and they did a great job holding things together and providing excellent hospitality.
The location of this hotel is very good, having walked arround Portland it was clear that we were in one of the best places. Our room was okay, although a strange layout, we looked out onto the street. There was a free wine and cheese reception for guests in the lobby area, obviously very popular. The staff were very helpful and curtious. Car parking was directly under the hotel and secure.
The hotel had a very Portland hipster feel to it. The room had concrete floors and a cool lounge chair with a tray for hanging out and eating/drinking/writing while looking out the window (though my room didn't have much of a view). You're right in the heart of the Pearl District and a short walk away from Powell's Books, so there are plenty of dining and shopping options nearby.
Really solid choice for downtown Portland. Good location. Close to decent restaurants. Great extras at the hotel. Really liked this place. Not a lot of parking under the building available during peak vacation periods, however, there is lot public parking at an affordable price nearby. We paid $7 overnight at a nearby parking structure on a Saturday, not bad!
The quality of the rooms makes for a good respite for going about on various adventures about downtown Portland. The café/bar in the lobby has a nice ambiance, and versatile menu...think that I had some sort of seasonal coffee drink before departing for the airport. Access is to/from PDX is very convenient with the Chinatown stop just a block away.
Easily accessible to Portland's downtown, many bars & restaurants close-by, or choose the hotel's Bottle & Kitchen. Ample paid parking, a clean room/facilities, nice shower/bathroom, comfy bed, fluffy duvets, and a plesant view over Naito Parkway to the green space along the Willamette. But...
The room was clean, and all the services worked as promised. The shower was probably the best I have seen in a lot of time. Complementary canned water. The location was great, very close to the subway/tram lines and all the major attractions in Downtown Portland.
It is conveniently situated from the Portland Airport and on a light rail line that connects with much of the metro area. Also the breakfast food is unusually wholesome at this particular hotel.
