Many little touristy shops, many were overpriced. My husband has a little trouble walking, and the brick sidewalks, although quaint we’re a bit difficult to navigate. A few homeless hanging near the garage. The boats and water were beautiful. We highly recommend the odyssey whale watch. A great experience , saw whales and sharks and the boat staff was good. Bring a seat cushion with you and dress warmly. Went to demolish for dinner. Again, the wait staff was excellent, but was disappointed that I couldn’t order lobster tails. Whole lobster or lobster pieces in butter. The atmosphere was nice

We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine.
We live in Massachusetts, but we love visiting Maine. We usually stop at the Kittery Trading Post along our drive. In Portland we like to take in historical homes and sites like the Victorian Mansion or the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow home. There are lots of restaurants and pubs in the waterfront area. One of our favorites is the Ri' Ra' where I typically enjoy a Guinness with the fish and chips.

My work in Portland shows me a diverse striving community that is trying to care for its citizens. That diversity is revealed through exploring the shops underneath and around the "Hopeful" sculpture/sign on Forest Ave.
The location was great - just a short walk to the center of Portland. Room and bathroom were clean and the bed comfortable. My room faced the back, so I didn't hear any traffic noise. As a light sleeper I consider this an important point. The staff was polite and helpful and suggested good places to eat.
There is no restaurant, but a few steps away is a good Mediterranean (Greek, Lebanese) place. The downtown area, full of restaurants and cafés, is within walking distance. I really recommend this hotel.
Beautifully decorated and atmospheric hotel. The bed was gigantic and very comfy, and the room more spacious than anticipated. Despite being fully booked, the house felt quiet and private. The snack bar was fully loaded every day - a real treat. Location was fantastic; very easy to explore the city by foot. Staff were readily available throughout our stay, and nice to communicate with.
Easy parking. The front desk staff were lovely, making a room available even though I had arrived a little early. Big room with very comfortable bed. Excellent WiFi. The toiletries in the bathroom were in wall-mounted, refillable containers. The downtown and waterfront districts were within walking distance. Good value for money.
The staff was very courteous and getting the shuttle to pick us up at another hotel that was atrocious and they gladly picked us up. Took us to Downtown Portland as well as the train station. The breakfast was excellent, the HH was excellent, the bartender Lauren was great, the shuttle drivers Ashley amd Richie were also great.
A fantastic building with lots of history, conveniently located halfway between the train station and the waterfront. Close to downtown and the Old Port for a nice walk.
Terrific reception staff, and a lovely glass of bubbles when checking in.
Room was very cosy, with good wifi connection.
The room was smart and clean apart from the air conditioning panel which was extremely dusty. The hotel was just back from the waterfront and close to all sorts of eating, drinking and entertainment. We did not eat breakfast it was better to find brunch somewhere else.
The room was lovely and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly. The hotel itself is beautiful and we loved all the original artwork everywhere and comfortable atmosphere. It was a perfect location for a night in Portland's Old Port.
The location was very good. The old port, The Portland Observatory and the Eastern promenade were all in walking distance from the hotel.
The breakfast was good, big portions although the variety wasn't that big but it was satisfying.
This is an ideal location to walk or bike around all of downtown Portland. It was safe for me to walk at night as a woman, alone, down Market, Commercial streets, etc. I also LOVED the free shuttle service from 3:00 -11:00.
Very good location by the waterfront, about 5 minutes walk from the heart of the Old Port area. Very stylish room, well appointed for sleeping, working, relaxing. Easy parking albeit not cheap.
It’s style and location on Portland. Really lovely character hotel in a great location rooms were great as were all the amenities. We just wished we had stayed longer
Good location in a quiet area, walking distance to downtown attractions.
Large comfortable room.
Great breakfast cooked to order.
