It is a quiet town with very kind people. We stopped by their museum and the person managing the museum made it a worthwhile visit. They have the neatest handmade walking sticks there, which we did purchase. There is a pub called Kellys directly across the street from the museum and was worth a stop also. We met several people from Newport who were very kind. A special thank you to all the wonderful people at their Safeway Grocery Store. Quiet place, and very beautiful.

Stayed for a few days, for 4th of july. the campground koa/thousand trails is nice. That's where the rest of my family stayed. However some locals glared at us. There is only small clothing shops for women. I needed a swim suit none at the shops. For being a town between a river and lake you'd think they'd have swim suits. Cops were out thick, assuming there are lots of trouble makers. No place to rent a boat, which was a bummer. no family activites. There is a museum, lakes and river if you own a boat, and lots of hiking nearby. Beautiful land though, but run down town, the people need some help with the economy there.
