I was billed three times. I'm still waiting for a refund and not sure how long it will take. My total charges for one night was $240 but Holiday Inn Newark charged my credit card three times with two $240 and another $303. Furthermore, in the middle of early morning around 3 AM someone opened our room door, and we woke up in shock and fear thinking thieves entered the room. The staff has no idea what they are doing and looked very confused. They sold our room to someone else when we were inside the hotel room at 3 AM on May 26th 2024.

If you work in or / commute to NJ or NYC - this gem of a boutique hotel in the heart of downtown Newark is a must consider - it has the amenties you need, super easy to commute into/out of, has shuttle service, a restaurant but is also right be military park so you are close to restaurants / stores - all safe and you cannot beat the price - the accommodations are far superior to other hotels in NYC when you factor in price alone. Always my go to location

We did not check out Newark because we were there only 1 night & did not get to Hotel till around 1 in the morning & left at 10 the next morning . But what little we saw of the Hotel , there was nothing wrong.

TRYP was a little bit more expensive than a regular motel or 2* but I was very impressed with my stay here. Firstly the location. 10min to Newark penn. close by to buses. Centrally located. If you don't mind the 30 min commute to New York Manhattan and can manage the confusing transit options, TRYP is definitely worth an option and you'll save a bit instead of staying in New York main stream. The facility was kept very clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Not a lot of restaurant options in the area..but I loved both my stays here, one was in a smaller room and the other one was big. Definitely recommend.

When I spoke to the owner, I was told that there was no reservation and that they have stopped making reservations with Booking.com months ago, yet I received confirmation, very confusing and not professional I was left to find a last minute room!
Hotel is next to Newark Airport and offers free transfer from P4 from where you catch a free Air Train which takes you to Terminals and Train Station for Trains to NYC.
Check in was quick.
Hotel has a view of planes landing and you can see NYC in the distance.
Room was big which was Great.
Breakfast was rather poor not much of a choice. Coffee was weak, Juices were from Machine so not good quality..
The location is a great spot to get back-and-forth to the airport. Also, when traveling around the city getting back to the hotel is convenient. From the front desk to the perfect service, she also handled evening service was very pleasant patient and persistent with tending to the overload of customers my daughter and I thanked her for her service and kindness with a bouquet of roses
Location was good - 5 to 10 minutes walk to Newark-Penn Train Station, perfect for us intending to take Path train to NYC. The room looked new and spacious with comfortable bed and mattress. The bathroom was also roomy. Guarded carpark was right next to the hotel with reduced rates for guests, and there are quite a lot of spaces. There is also a good-vibe restaurant downstairs.
The most amazing service from host. My flight was delayed and the host still waited for me with no issues at all. Very caring service and attention to visitors. The interior of the hotel is very well renovated, sleek, and modern! Absolutely loved my stay, I will be staying here every time I visit Newark. I was so happily surprised I highly recommend to everyone!
The location was perfect for the situation: a 12 hours layover between flights. The owner of this small business adapted to my needs, offering to return me to the airport the next morning. Five minute drive to airport. Small breakfast with fruit and coffee was ready for me. Shared bathroom was hotel quality and clean. Like being at home.
The hotel was spotless and comfortable. But the staff was the best part! From check in to check out and everyone in between was some of the best people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting! The restaurant/bar was unbelievably delicious. The free shuttle to the airport was a big help with us going into New York City almost daily.
The room is quiet and spacious. The complimentary breakfast is well balanced with hot cooked oats, waffles making machine, scrambled eggs etc. Ample secured parking right in front of the hotel. Shuttle buses run 24/7 to and from Newark Airport from P4 air tram. From P4, you can take a train directly to NY Penn station.
Newark is far away from NYC. It takes 45min with Uber to get there.
The appartment itself is not the cleanest. Some air conditionings are not working or using frech air from the outside.

I love this hotel. I live in Europe & my family is in LA. It's a brutal trip so I always stay a night or three in Newark. I have stayed here countless times & I always will! There is nothing negative to stay ever! The perfect hotel!
Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms in an historic hotel. Good wi-fi. Great location near Newark Penn Station and NJPAC, only about a 30-minute train ride to New York Penn Station. Dutch's restaurant is good for dinner.
The room is good, the bed in comfortable, the shower is good too. The hotel is great if you need a one-night sleep to catch a flight at Newark Airport - the hotel has a shuttle to there departing every hour.
The hotel is at walking distance from the Newark Broad Street Station with frequent trains to New York's Penn Station.
