We were extremely impressed with the friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable staff. The front desk impressed us right from the start. Every employee greeted us or acknowledged us in some way during our stay. The room was so clean and comfortable. We loved the setting of the hotel and enjoyed a fabulous dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast looked good both days. They didn’t have options that meet my rather restricted dietary needs the first day. But the second day there was plenty of fruit along with all the breads and pastries and I was able to enjoy more than the coffee. Another visitor said that the food varies and there is often a wider variety after a wedding the day before.
It was as nice of a dog friendly room as I’ve ever stayed in.

The Spencer is a beautiful old hotel. Comfortable beds, wonderful breakfast and friendly staff. And while we were there, friendly fellow visitors. More like staying at someone's very large house...
There was no restaurant at the motel. We were sent downtown, and the restaurant served very large portions! The food was pretty good too.
The common areas needed to be vacuumed. Smokers hovered just outside the door, made for a very smelly entrance and exit. It seemed like they could have smoked across the parking lot.

We came to the area to visit Lucy/Desi Museum and the Lake area. The location was only a short distance to town. The young lady at the front desk was so nice and our room was clean and we would stay there again if we ever return.

I understand it is under construction so I will take that...
I understand it is under construction so I will take that into consideration. Loved the idea of the sliding glass door to unload and load but it would have been nice to be able to see out it. The paint job on the red wall was poor.
