We recently spent two days in Custer, SD, and it was fantastic. Custer is a perfect base camp for taking in all the surrounding sites including Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monument, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Custer St. Park wildlife loop, and the Custer St. Park Sylvan Lake area including Black Elk Peak-Little Devils Tower-Cathedral Spires hikes.

Initially, we had booked stay in various towns, but changed this and made Custer our main stay. This allowed us a central location, whilst we took days out to State Park, Mount Rushmore, Deadwood, Sturgis and other places, and saved us from packing/unpacking for the duration of our trip!

Great central location to Custer State Park, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave, Mt Rushmore. You can get a decent meal. It is not just burger restaurants. Custer State Park has incredible wildlife especially at dawn and dusk. It is as good as most National Parks. The Custer tourist area is the same as any of the others but the buffalo sculptures set it apart. There is also a farmer's market downtown.

Convenient access to the beautiful, Black Hills of South Dakota! A welcoming town with great shops and good restaurants. Next time w3e come, we want to rent quads to travel around the area, especially Needles Highway and Custer State Park Wilderness Drive!
A fantastic customer service experience, due to flight delays from salt lake city via Denver and an unplanned stopover in Denver, I was a day late to Rapid Reg airport. I informed the manager Curtis who was so helpful, and despite their being a bike rally lpcally, he managed to accommodate me 1 extra day in the beautiful town of Custer - I would highly recommend this venue. The staff were so helpful at every opportunity.
Nice, easy stay in Custer. Quick walk down the main street to all the restaurants and shops. Rooms were clean and perfectly comfortable. Nothing fancy, just a nice Best Western. We found the staff really friendly and helpful. Even though it was very full, it was quiet at night. Enjoyed the dive bar the Captain's Table that's right down from the rooms. Great place for one last nightcap before heading to bed.
Old school motel that has been updated to make it charming and cozy. The staff is friendly and engaged and the amenities — from a cookie happy hour (complete with milk!) — to the two amazing pools (indoor and out), basketball and pickle ball court, trails and hammocks make this unique property something special in the Custer area. Small details make for big impact. Great breakfast cafe right next door!
This hotel is perfectly located for the sites of the Black Hills. It has a nice pool and outside area. The breakfast buffet allowed my family to eat early and head out to enjoy the day. It was clean and looks very recently renovated. Beds and pillows (both soft and firm provided) were comfortable.
We stayed here for 4 nights and found it a comfortable and well situated hotel which we would be happy to recommend.
Custer itself is a charming little town well situated for Mount Rushmore, the Iron Mountain Road, Needle Highway and Custer and Wind Cave Parks (with all the bison)
Nice selection available fo breakfast and we were able to take items to our room the day before so we could get an early start in the am. The bed was comfortable. The owner was very friendly. The location is convenient to Custer State Park and you can walk to area restaurants.
Although an older type motel it had everything we needed. The room was clean and the staff was really helpful. Custer was small quaint place that is well worth a visit and this motel was in keeping. Not modern but working and sufficient for us - good value for money.
Super comfy rooms with awesome beds and pillows. Great facilities, very clean, wonderful staff, fresh baked cookies on check-in, good breakfast- which has been rare in all the hotels I have stayed in lately. 20 mins to Sylvan Lake. Definitely recommend for the area!
This is my favorite hotel we’ve stayed in on this trip. The food at the lodge was also the best meal we’d had so far. Been on the road for 12 days with 3 more to know. The staff was incredibly polite and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel.
Well located to explore Custer State Park and within walking distance of the shops, bars and restaurants.
Wonderful views from the cabins and they were spacious and comfortable.
The pool was a welcome addition after a long hot day riding!
The breakfast was very good with fried eggs, sausage patties, and biscuits and gravy. The location was great only a few minutes from Custer State park and half hour from Mt. Rushmore. The outdoor access was nice to unload our stuff.
Rooms had everything you need. Coffee bar and a pitcher of drinking water was available 24/7. Within walking distance to downtown Custer. Had a cute little sitting area out in the front of the building, to enjoy the weather.
we had been here before and decided to come back: so central in Custer and in a key point for visiting many locations. the room was very clean and comfortable. the staff is extremely friendly and helpful
Beautiful property ideally located for Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Custer State Park. Clean, comfortable and friendly. Didn't use pools but they looked very appetising. Breakfast (not included) very tasty
Customer service was fantastic. The front desk people where very Professional and friendly. Definitely would recommend this hotel. When we come back that way we will definitely stay again
Nice cottages in Custer, near the main road for Mount Rushmore memorial and the Black Hills National Forest. Large room with all the comfort, good "take away" breakfast.
The beds were fine but only the pillows were uncomfortable. Location was great and ideally located for a visit to Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore.
