We had a perfect two nights stay. The owners Daniela and Costi are a very nice couple and took good care of us. As we travelled by train Daniela came and picked us up from Avrig train station as well as dropped us back on Porumbacu de Jos station which was very convenient.. On our way to the cabin we stopped and had some food shopping from a supermarket which again was perfect. First day we had visited Povestea Calendarului a very nice theme park for kids where we stayed for a coffee and a drink and second day we made sandwiches and snacks and walk all the way to cabana Negoiu 14 km away which took us five hours. If you have a car you can drive up more than half way park your car and carry on climbing. The road and trail are marked with a blue triangle and is not very difficult. The view from Negoiu motel which is situated at 1545 meters altitude is definitely worth the effort. From there you can climb up another 3 1/2 hours to Negoiu peak but for us wasn't enough time as we walked back another 5 hours. We were tired at the end of the day but had showers and relaxed in front of our cabin. It was quiet and very relaxing. It was fresh air and was amazing view to the Fagaras Mountains They were crickets sounds. It honestly was everything we came for. The beds were nice and kitchen has got all the amenities.Thank you Daniela and thank you Costi for the pleasant chat and for everything. We probably go back if possible.

Beautiful, quiet area with a lovely view on the Fagaras mountains, lots of fortified churches within an hour drive.
We drove and hiked to the Negoiu cabin and visited also a waterfall around there.
We ate every evening at the place where we stayed (Pensiunea Negoiu) as the food was very good, and the atmosphere in the garden was lovely.

Porombacu de Sus is a great village to start if you want to...
Porombacu de Sus is a great village to start if you want to hike in the Fagars mountains. From here you can hike to the Negoiu peak on the nordic west face. Also, you can reach the Negoiu cabin but pay attention that the road to the cabin is pretty long and if you have the possibility take a car, after a drive around one hour you can park the car on marble quarry and starting from there you have around two hours hike in the summer conditions to the Negoiu cabin.

Such a lovely cosy and very comfy treehouse, you feel totally private but with the peace of mind the main house is just across the garden. Lovely little details all around and everything we needed for a couple of nights. We used it as a base to drive the Transfagarasan Highway and do some hiking before heading off to Braşov. Mihai was so hospitable and friendly, nothing was any trouble. I would highly recommend to others wanting a bit of peace in the woods.

Porumbacu de Sus is a charming mountain village conveniently located as a base for trips to the Fagaras Mountains. We drove to the Balea Waterfall, walked from the cable car to Balea Lake and took the cable car down. The views were spectacular. I definitely recommend hiking in this area if you want to get a feel for the place. Be aware that you could bump into bears, so it's better to go with a guide, or in a group. We had dinner at Brukenthal restaurant in nearby Avrig. The food was mediocre, but the surroundings are very charming.
