Second time, with 2 smaller rooms this time instead of suite, but all the same exceptional experience! Top service and attitude, great and comfortable rooms with lovely balconies, excellent and locally infused breakfast, great diners with superb service, wide choice of local wines and local dishes, from classics to new ideas. All tasty, and new sushi restaurant was perfect too. The hotel reminds me Belmond properties, and I'm not clear why it is claimed as 4 star only - as it is much more superior than their sister flagship Grand Hotel Atlantico in Ponda Delgada, and certainly amongst most sought after places to stay at Sao Miguel. Will come back.
Located sea-front in the charming village of Povoaçao, Hotel do Mar offers rooms with balconies overlooking the sea. The hotel features an outdoor pool with hot tub.
Just 150 metres from the Lake of Furnas, these modern, 4-star apartments come with free WiFi in all areas and views of the lush green fields. It has an outdoor pool with sun-lounger terrace.

excellent staff, service & breakfast. Property a bit tired, but it is about to be renovated. Hopefully that will deal with the humidity in the rooms

Nice location with amazing view over the village. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Parking spot in front of the house. Swimming pool, lounge and billiard room are just another extra plus:)

Wonderful house in the fantastic Furnas! It's a very traditional house with a soul and very tranquile athmosphere. It is situated very close to Pocas da d.Beija hot springs - which is my favorite place in Furnas.
We had very nice time there and already dreaming to come back one day!
Boasting air-conditioned accommodation with a patio, Furnas Cozy Inn is situated in Furnas. This recently renovated apartment is located less than 1 km from Fumarolas and 2.3 km from Lagoa das Furnas....

The property is spacious, fully equipped and has outdoor bbq however these are all useless when the place is a severe health hazard riddled with damp and mould.
Pretty nice little town with tranquility! We were eating in all the recommended places which were:
Restaurante Ponta do Garajau - great settings and great food selection.
Café Adelino ( Dinis ) - a lot of chicken wings. Those aren't some steroids packed wings but the local small chickens size. Great taste and great owner.
Bar da Praia - nice view of the beach, service a bit slow and rude but overall a good place!
We were a group of 4 with the car so around the village it was nice to walk around it, very safe and people are nice and smiling and it makes you fell very welcoming!

This fishing village was a perfect first experience in the Azores. Casa De Pedra was great and host Jose was the best. This area is a bit remote, but that is what we wanted. The unit was really nice and the pool was great for relaxing after a day of adventure. The village has a great restaurant for fish, and the local beach has a nice beach bar and food truck options. Furnas is just a short drive with lots to do. There is a great hiking trail along the coast that starts just in front of the Casa. The village has a couple small stores that have most of the basics you might want. We enjoyed making our own breakfast and eating outside of the apartment with the wonderful view. Best of all everything here is very reasonably priced. A great value!!!

Well what can I say? Senhor Jose is the perfect host.
Well what can I say? Senhor Jose is the perfect host. He understands his guests needs very well. I arrived fairly late in the day and had asked for a few items to be put in the cottage for when I arrived. This was done to perfection. Thank you. He has a great team helping him run the day to day things. Vera would bring bread in the morning with a big smile and was more than happy to do laundry and general clean up if required. (I miss your morning bread Vera and your Portuguese lessons!) Carlota guided me to the cottage late in the day, with more smiles. Luis and Rafael were busy decorating the cottage next door, they were fun to talk with. The whole team were kind and oh so helpful, nothing was too much, nothing was a bother. The cottage itself is charming, simple and cosy. The views from the patio out over the endless Atlantic truely mesmerising. Many an hour after a day in the hills, I spent looking at the weather changing and listening to the waves crash below. There is a little stone bench (good for one small human) which was perfect for sunset drinks. The village itself, again was simple but so very welcoming, smiles, laughter and genuine kindness in abundance. There are plenty of walks in the area, one right on your doorstep. If you're looking for calm and solitude look no further. Jose and his team are waiting to welcome you to their very special little corner of the world. I for one totally fell in love with it all. I only wished I could stay longer (a lifetime perhaps). Obrigado Jose e sua equipe. Obrigado de todo o coracao.

You will have a wonderful time at Avo da Rosa, lovingly decorated and run by the very kind Lúcia, who went out of her way to help us and we are grateful to have met her. In winter there is just one place to eat in the village offering bar snacks, so we cooked. You will enjoy the beautiful and dramatic beach. A practical note: the apartment is best if you are under 160cm, we are quite tall and had to be very mindful not to hit our heads, plus the bed is quite short. All in all a great short stay and a wonderful owner full of heart and character!
