A nice surprise awaited us at this small hotel. The rooms are pretty basic but the beds are soft and very comfortable. The shower is big and plenty of hot water was available. The swimming pool was an extra bonus. The breakfast was exceptional! The orange juice were from the trees growing beside the hotel and the preserves were homemade. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The property is gorgeous, even better than the photos. The exterior is a true highlight, with a functional BBQ area, numerous seating areas, beautiful gardens, cozy hammocks, and areas to lounge by the pool. This house is amazing. Amazing views. The staff was also amazing and went above and beyond. We didnt have a great plan for dinner and the staff got us food in a nearby town and delivered it back to the house which was awesome. Really unique

Incredible hosts, family owned with their eatery right around the corner, amazing food, met whole family who were warm and open, very clean and professionally presented rooms, linens of quality, port wine and chocolate treat greeted us, 8 min drive to Castelo e Vila Muralhada, de Ansiães which is not to be missed!!

We loved staying with Maarten. He’s a gracious host. The wine tasting, bbq dinner and the stories shared were one of the highlights of our stay. The view is incredible and priceless. If we ever get another chance to return to Portugal, Douro Valley/Porto is a must and will definitely would love to stay @ Stay at the winemaker.
