Huge room. Amazingly appointed. Great art, lounge, TV comfy bed. Fantastic location near side entrance to city. Close to city square. Absolutely amazing city. One of my all time favorite cities to visit and The Literary Man will be the only place id choose to stay. Absolutely the best! Breakfast was unbelievable. The photos on their website do not lie! Definitely would recommend this hotel.

We had a room overlooking the street with windows to open and a view of the activities. It was clean and peacefully wuiet by 7pm. It was relaxing to explore the walls of the castle and backstreets and rest inbetween outings.

Obidos is a charming small town with its original surrounding walls. It's great for a one night stay and an exploration of the town, the castle and the walls, If you're not too afraid of heights (there are no guardrails) you can walk pretty much all the way around the town on the walls. There are some very good restaurants and charming shops. If you are planning an overnight stay the Patio House is well worth considering.

Overrun with tourists.
Overrun with tourists. We liked other locations similar to Obidos which were missing the hoards of tourists. Obidos, Lisbon and Porto were overrun with tourists April 10-May 15. We visited three other fortress hilltop towns that had only three to five other tourist cars visiting while we were there. I would skip Obidos and we left the place after one hour.

Everything was great.
Everything was great. The owners were very welcoming offering us a glass of sherry upon arrival and generously offering us extra food (fruit and crackers) to take when we were leaving. Very nice people.

Sam and Rich could not have been more welcoming.
Sam and Rich could not have been more welcoming.
They did so much to insure our comfort, from stocking the refrigerator to providing an electric mattress pad (sheer bliss!). The bed and pillows were very comfortable and cozy. It is a lovely property with a beautiful view. We would not hesitate to stay there again or recommended to anyone.

I wasn't there long enough to do as much exploring as I would have liked. The castle was very interesting wandering in and around there. If I had more time I would have liked to explore more of the town.
Obidos was beautiful. We were underwhelmed with our stay at the Castle. We were in room #103, in the castle. It did not feel like we were staying in a Castle. The restaurant is above the rooms on the first floor, all we could hear was footsteps unril 10:45pm, when they closed and woke up to footsteps just before 7:00am. Save your money and book elsewhere. It was the most expensive room for our 10 day vacation in Portugal and our least favorite. Obidos itself is worth a visit, give yourself about 3-4 hours to get through the town.
Proximity the walled village was great with 2 minutes to the wall. Parking in front of the house. The wall walk around Óbidos was worth it and the best of the many walled villages we visited. The atmosphere touristy but not over the top. We felt welcomed wherever we went. Dinner at the Literary Man Hotel was excellent.
After five weeks in Portugal we realized that we had been served no mediocre wine and all cheese was found good. The lesser of all wine was the €3 bottle from the grocery store but what else was I to expect.
The apartment is actually an old house build somewhere in the 18th century inside the walls of Obidos. It is in the center of the old city and gives you a unique experience of sleeping in a real antique place but having all the modern facilities that you are used for. You got everything you need to cook a good meal but you are also inside the walls which makes it a perfect location.
We couldn't expect anything more than that. Best experience we had in Portugal and the host is great and very helpful.
The hotel itself is wonderful, the rooms are spacious and modern, and the lounge area is fabulous. We didn't have a chance to utilise the outdoor swimming pool due to rain, but we had a direct view to it from our room and it looked impeccable.
The area is calm and green and allows for nice walks in nature and with a quick 5 minutes drive, you'll be in the heart of the Obidos Vila.
The property is in an excellent location for pedestrian access to Obidos . It also provides parking spaces and very quick access to the A8, allowing you to get to Lisbon within an hour. This was important to us as this was our final stay and we needed to return to the airport first thing in the morning. The little garden was great to sit in with a drink in the early evening.
Beautifully renovated apartment with a stupendous view of the castle, particularly at night. Our host was really kind and generous. He left some fruit, bread and other goodies for us. The apartment is minutes away from the castle and nice restaurants. Parking availability is a plus. We highly recommend this place to any travelers staying in Óbidos.
Amazing property. we had the room with a loft and terrace access. the room was super clean and a quick easy walk to the wall entrance. our view from the terrace was exceptional looking at the lit up castle walls at night and a beautiful small chapel right next door literally 40’ away. The best place we have stayed in Portugal.
It looks like somebody really creative has designed the interiors. Most of the fixtures inside are made of upcycled material. The property is very comfortable and has everything you need for a short or long stay. It's at a walking distance from the castle. If in Obidos, try to book this property. You won't regret it.
It's a really charming and spacious Portuguese house in the centre of Óbidos but a few steps away from the tourists' flow. The garden with the hammock and the pool give an extra pleasure to enjoy the siestas in the afternoons. Rodrigo is a very good host, he was always taking care of us
Easy access to Óbidos old town. we would recommend this hotel for only short visit while targeting to do sightseeing of Óbidos historic sites and around town. The pool is good for after site visit for chilling down and a quick rest before contributing the Centro Area in Portugal
Beautiful and nicely decorated property located just outside the historic walled city with views of the castle. The room was spacious and very comfortable and the staff were very kind and helpful and were able to accommodate us with GF bread. Breakfast was varied and plentiful.
spacious and comfy apartment, very well equipped and beautifully decorated :). we could see the Obidos Castle from our little terasse. calm location, lovely host. Near Obidos old town, just few minutes by car, or a longer walk. Interesting and pretty church next door.
This is a great hotel, and excellent value for money. Our en-suite room was spacious, with own balcony. Big and confortable bed everything is new and clean. Plenty of parking outside.
Less than 10 minutes walk to the centre of Obidos and two supermarkets.
This is a great location. We only spent one night but I think that's all anyone needs in Obidos. The building is charming. Breakfast was really good but there are no gluten-free options. I don't really expect that in Portugal though.
Everything! Owner very pleasant and helpful. House comfortable with all amenities. Very creative and imaginative decor, convenient by car to Coimbra, Obidos Castle, Peniche
Beautiful hotel: looks more like a castle! Staff is friendly and very useful. Fantastic breakfast! Excellent view on Obidos castle and the town. Thank you!
