Great breakfast, location, staff, cleanliness, ambiance

An amazing palace full of history. Built in neo-manuelino style inside a lush forest, this palace is one of a kind. The rooms are of course and understandably not comparable with those of a modern 5 star hotel ( the palace is 200+ years old), but you don’t go to Bussaco for this. You go for the amazing atmosphere, the great salons, the historic furniture, the custom- made azulejos with scenes from the Os Lusíadas and from the Battle of Buçaco, for the walks in the incredibly beautiful forest. The breakfast is legendary, served in the most amazing salon of Portugal.
Situated on the slopes of Buçaco Mountain, this hotel is only 1 km from the Buçaco Forest and is a 2-minute walk from Luso’s thermal spa. It has a restaurant.
Set in a garden with an outdoor pool, Inatel Luso features spacious rooms. The hotel is located in the Buçaco Forest, just 150 metres from Luso’s thermal baths.
This XIX's Palace shows you the charming atmosphere of a mediaeval English castle. You will be able to relax here, while enjoying its beautiful and amazing decoration.

We stayed in Luso for two nights and enjoyed our time. It is remote so we did not feel as though we needed more time there than we had but we did visit the local spa which we enjoyed and we had the best meal all trip in town!
Definitely worth stopping in at.

The town is well worth a visit.
The town is well worth a visit.
It was a shame we didn't have more time fo the thermal baths - they're not open on a Sunday.
Buçaco forest is magical, make lots of time to go there and spend at least a full day.
If you can stay in the Palace, it is well worth it.

The Bussaco Castle was beyond our expectations, the hotel staff were amazing, a representative showed us the lobby area and the amenities prior to our room arrival after our check in. We had a fantastic room (The Queen room). There are several activities to do such the visit to the convent/museum, the shop, and long walking trails in the forest, this was an incredible stay for us to celebrate a very special event, we had dinner at the hotel and the dinner was superb, the bartender knows how to make great mix drinks, the entire staff in the hotel were welcoming, friendly and courteous. This castle is truly one of a kind and highly recommend it to my friends!

Located in the heart of the Serra do Bussaco, Palace Hotel do Bussaco is an excellent example of Manueline-Gothic architecture. Its richly decorated corridors feature antique furnishings, large paintings and traditional Portuguese glazed tiles. Bussaco National Forest is wonderful.

Luso itself is a small nineteenth-century spa town--not much to do there except 'take the waters' (which my wife did, very enthusiastically) and walk in the national forest. It's a place for the sensitive, quieter traveller, rather than someone seeking thrills and excitement.
This beautiful property is run by a very, very sweet couple. We only stayed one night as a quick stop so we could visit the Bussaco National Forest and Palace, and it was perfect. The grounds were gorgeous, they had a little swing set and slide for our 2 year old son to play on, breakfast was delicious, and the hosts recommended a great restaurant in Luso for dinner. Wish we would have been there for warmer weather to enjoy the pool! Next time!
It’s a large family managed hotel, with a familiar sense.
It has a lovely spacious sitting room by reception and a
working lift to get you to your room. The cleaning staff
are very friendly and the hotel owner is a legend.
It’s located right in the middle of Luso centro so all is in
reach. The bedroom has good air conditioner which is
brilliant for the hot days.
This hotel has loads of potential and I know it’s being
improved each year.
Wonderful location near Luso and Mealhada. Amazing property tucked away on small hill. There are citrus trees, a nice garden and beautiful old trees. Plenty of space in the room and access to the house living room for reading or TV in the evening. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh jam, fresh squeezed OJ, and much more, served in a formal dining room. Pool wasn’t open (it was March) but you can sit next to it and enjoy the garden/sun.
The experience is unique. It was the 3rd time I have stayed at Bussaco. The history of the building, the nature and surroundings of the Bussaco forest, and the friendliness of the staff just added to a great stay.
We celebrated a friends 70th birthday, and it could not have been in a better place and atmosphere. It is for travelers who enjoy and truly appreciate the hidden gems of Portugal. Bussaco Palace remains a must!
The Accomodation is located in a beautiful, green setting and with lots of space around. The room we had was also super spacious. We were able to park our bikes in a safe location. From the hotel it is only a short walk into Luso.
The host was incredible friendly. Breakfast was nice and plenty. We only stayed for a night but really liked the place and certainly would come back.
Proximity to: thermal spa, path to the Bucaco forest, restaurants, cafes.
Air conditioning in the bedroom
Air dryer in the bathroom (one of the working ones, not those you normally find in hotels and takes ages to dry your hair)
Two window-doors leading to two teeny tiny balconies (only possible to stand in there, but still super cute)
Sylvia was a most kind, gracious hostess. There to check me in, there in the morning to cook a to-order breakfast in a beautiful dining room. An elegant old home with a handful of rooms, furnished with antiques. Spacious, up-to-date bathroom. Pretty, quiet grounds and easy parking.
Lovely small Chateaux, in Luso Spa town. The house is located within walking distance of Luso town centre, and close to Bussaco Green Park, a natural reserve and romantic park, where you can walk and discover an extraordinary botanical collection, including some giant trees.
Staff were very helpful and always available. special mention of front desk staff who were quick and efficient in check-in and giving a brief guide to hotel. Whole experience was good. only stayed one night so not able to experience walks, etc.
Beautiful building with history attached to it ! Fantastic location with work wonderful views! Just perfect to visit luso ..
Hosts are just lovely couldn’t rate my stay high enough !!
The owner was gracious and very helpful.
The hotel is historic, comfortable and very clean.
The breakfast was lovely, housed in a room with a wonderful clock collection.
Staff was welcoming and helpful. Good location, walk away from the center . Nice old style hotel. Fair breakfast, although coffee at the standards of Portugal was poor .
This hotel was definitely the highlight of our trip through Portugal. The castle itself is incredible! The room was pretty modest. Great delicious breakfast.
