Clean and tidy, easy to find, everything at ground level.
The host was amazing, we called to say we will be late checking in, host explained where our unit will be etc, we got in around 9pm and the lights and heater to our unit was turned on, so after a 5 hour road trip it was a welcoming feeling to have our room ready and warm for us. I was blown away!
Surrounded by picturesque gardens, Sun Valley Motel offers free WiFi in public areas. It is within 2 minutes’ walk of a range of shopping and dining options.

The location was nice and peaceful and the hosts were great. We arrrived early and the hosts were accomodating enough to let us in early. The property is in a rural setting but is still realtively handy to Wellsford and Mangawhai.

Very tidy and well kept home, excellent host who communicated well before our arrival and whilst we were staying at the property. Also gave us our own space whilst staying there. Close proximity to shops, cafes, supermarkets, pub etc all in a short walking distance from the property. Very comfy bed and room. Also a quiet location.

Wellsford is a town you have to drive through as you travel north to the Bay of Islands and beyond.
It can be a bottle neck so if you are not heading there for an overnight stay, best to make certain that you do not hit it at peak travel times or season.
It has everything for a quick stop. Petrol station. Many fast food outlets and amenities for travellers.
If you want to take a quieter more scenic route to Auckland, then take the road to Hellensville which joins SH1 at Wellsfords Northern end.
For those watching time Wellsford is approximately half way between
Auckland and Whangarei.

We have stayed at Wellsford a number of times { with friends } due to my husband having worked around the area, many years ago, due to his job. It is a hop to a number of beaches etc. The only down side I find is the busy traffic on the main street

Wellsford is where we have family living so we often go to a motel to stay one or two nights.
This time we went to Bennetts Store by the wharf for lunch the fish and chips were very good, well worth a visit
Friendly service our room was noticeabley clean and comfortable, central to the township easy to get to the shops but nicely tucked away in the heart of wellsford giving us peace and quiet at night. we stayed 2 nights and our room was serviced while we were there with fresh towels, bathroom cleaned + new supplies and our bed made. This is the best pick for accommodation in the area with limited options, it is worth it.
We stayed in the cottage. It was spacious, the bed was fantastically comfortable and the little extras were amazing. A beautiful continental breakfast each day, beautiful drinking water, excptional hot water for showers and amazing stars at night. Highly recommended!! Try the wonderful roast dinners from Ready Roast in Wellsford...the medium for $27 fed the two of us with plenty to spare!!
We were traveling with my elderly mum and looking for a half way point hotel and Sun Valley was in the right place, and had everything we needed. It was wheelchair assessable, had a heater and electric blanket . It was a fabulous overnight stay.
It was compact, quiet and worked well for us.
Great to see air freshener and toothbrush holder in the bathroom and a fire extinguisher. The motelier showed good local knowledge of possible food outlets for our dinner.
Was a last minute booking as we were still up north and was too late to drive home so a quick stay over, the staff were nice nice, it was close to wellsford centre.
The Castle Court was handy to Wellsford. served as bed and shower for a one night layover. comfortable bed, well equipped kitchenette. Friendly guy on reception.
