Good golf course. Great breakfast at the Hydro Cafe. We stayed at the Tongariro lodge which was great. Nice scenery. Nice walking along the river where we saw a fisherman actually catch a trout. He said a prayer to the fish and put it back in the river. Overall a very nice stay.

Peaceful and quiet place to stay after our trip to Mt. Ruapehu. The motel is also conveniently located near the New World, gas stations and takeaways. It is also less than an hour drive to Taupo district which is a bonus stop over. :)

Turangi serves as a charming base for ski enthusiasts, with Oreti Village Resort offering a sublime stay. Nestled away from the hustle, Oreti provides comfort and tranquillity with well-appointed accommodations and stunning lake views. However, those looking to hit the slopes should note the drive times: about 50 minutes to Whakapapa and roughly 90 minutes to Turoa. While the drives are scenic, they require a bit of planning for those eager to maximise their time in the snow.

Turangi is a convenient stop halfway between Auckland and Wellington. Few take-away and dining options. It seems like a good spot for trout fishermen. We selected take-aways for one meal and packaged microwave meals for a second meal. Next stop over on our round trip will be in Taupo.
Absolutely love staying at Creel lodge, it’s in a very quiet area, lovely garden surroundings, with lots of bird life to listen to. Excellent room facilities, netflix is an added bonus, great shower pressure. Friendly and welcoming hosts, very clean rooms, thanks to the lovely staff who do an excellent job. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else when in Turangi.🤩
The room size and facilities were well suited for my family. Location was ideal for us and the motel is literally a 3min drive OR 7min walk to the hot pools up the road. Upon arrival we were greeted by the maintenance guy Roscoe - he was super pleasant to deal with always greeted us with a smile as did the owner she was lovely also.
Four old style hot pools open to the stars 24/7 for only nine rooms. Fantastic - particularly as the Tokaanu pools are closed. The motel is a little dated but rooms are large, well equipped, warm and clean, and the owner is very helpful. Beds are comfortable. Delivered exactly what was needed at a good price
The most fantastic apartment one could hope for, literally one of the best if not the best of our 14 weeks travelling around Australia and NZ and using numerous motels and hotels.
