We didn't choose Pinot for the novelty of staying in a dome, but we were surprised at how well appointed and decorated the dome was (and spacious). Our stay in the dome was really comfortable and we were also surprised by the breakfast that Sandy supplied in the morning with fresh baked pastries and fresh fruit. The dome has a beautify view across the vineyard to the lake and mountains beyond. Unfortunately some wild weather ruled out enjoying the hot tub or deck, but we were cosy in the dome looking out.

The accommodation is clean and comfortable, with a spacious bathroom. The property also has a big green area for our kid to roam about. The hosts were friendly and gracious. Overall, staying here was a lovely experience!

If you want to ski at Cardrona or Treble Cone or explore Cromwell, Clutha and further south, then Queensberry is an ideal spot and a great alternative to Wanaka. The roads are straight and safe and relatively empty compared to the North Island and the countryside is breathtakingly beautiful. There are loads of short hikes you can do if you don't want to ski. If it weren't for Covid we would not have done this trip so we are really pleased we were able to revisit such a lovely part of the country. We will definitely return in the summer and to do the Otago Rail Trail.

Close to Wanaka and Cromwell hence wanting to stay longer as plenty to do at both of those places. Nice to stay away from the bigger locations though as it was quiet and peaceful. Close to wineries, walks and art galleries eg Hoglund Glass
