The Pancake Rocks walking track was fantastic and the Blow Holes were amazing. The Truman Track through native bush was awesome. Cafe reasonable and pub good but expensive food and drinks. Spectacular rock formations all around the area.Raincoats recommended - you never know when it will rain.

We loved our visit to Punakaika rocks and worth a detour. We liked the house except we are too old for having to go up and down steep stairs during the night. We were not warned about this. We ate at the local scenic hotel and this was reasonable and pleasant

The Pancake Rocks are overwhelming beautiful, almost an alien place on earth. We went there at the end of the day (low tide) and came back in the morning (high tide). The power of the waves was incredible.

What a delightful natural attraction - the pancake rocks are incredible. The garden tavern is very welcoming and the food was good. We stayed in the cute beachfront cabin and could walk to the beach, the pancake rocks, garden tavern and info centre from there. The Pancake Rocks Cafe needs a good shake up, the pancakes were terrible - undercooked and the banana was bad.

Great option for a short one night, or even longer stay.

Great option for a short one night, or even longer stay. The small compound of self contained units was very lovely. Even though all the cottages were occupied, it was peaceful and I could have sat out on the deck for much longer to enjoy the sound of the waves on the beach. We ate at the main hotel/restaurant in a lovely secluded garden. Even though it's right on the main road, the garden gives you a sense of peaceful tranquility. There's not much to do in the area, but for sure a 1 or 2 night stay is perfect here. We had room #10 & it was absolutely perfect

We visited the Rocks along the road - always an interesting visit, and spent a lot of time in Barrytown for a friends wedding. Always take mozzie spray or insect repellant! We took our own breakfast items and ate out the rest of the time - the pub at the other end of the village has a good range of food as does the cafe at the Rocks

Mel answered the phone when I may have needed to change my reservation because I missed the morning ferry from Wellington to Picton. She was willing to push it back a day, but in the end, I drove to Punakaiki and arrived late. Mel was so nice and helpful on the phone and the next morning at the camp office in person. This was the perfect stop on our road trip. Sad to say we had to move on by 2pm the next day after visiting every single spot Mel recommended, including the pancake rocks at high tide.

Great view and proximity to the Tasman Sea. It's a quiet, tranquil place to relax or take walks. It's an easy 600 m. walk to the Pancake Rocks. Our hosts were outstanding, even offering to drive us to the InterCity bus stop when it was raining. The InterCity bus will drop you off or pick you up right near the Cottages on the Main Road if you arrange for it. Be aware that there are no grocery stores in Punakaiki, so bring food supplies with you.

Well located at the south end of picturesque Punakaiki village. The motel was between the limestone cliffs and the beach and walking distance to the Pancake Rocks. There was a small kitchenette and bathroom. The beds were OK and it was quiet. There is access to the beach for sunsets but it's not a swimming beach. The shower system was a bit confusing at first. The motel has an outdoor picnic table and seating on the rock sea wall.

We stayed here the night after we finished the Paparoa Great Walk. A short 10 minute drive along the coast from Punakaiki. Stunning views and the spa pool was just lovely. Has everything you need -but remember to bring your own food/alcohol as nothing nearby. We ate in Punakaiki and was great. A fantastic stay -thank you so much! We’ll be back for longer than one night next time.

The instructions for check in were sent nice and early and were very thorough so everything went smoothly. The accommodation is lovely with a really nice "wild" feel with wildlife and vegetation that was really nice. Easy to find, easy to park and although outside Punakaiki, gave easy access to the things there you would want to see.

Excellent location if you want to visit Punakaiki or just enjoy a nice spot. All the areas were very cozy and warm. We initially had a double room with shared bathroom but got upgraded to a room with an en suite bathroom, which was a very nice surprise.
