    Amazing Cafe Fika.

Amazing Cafe Fika. Custard slices & Breakfast filo were delicious. Friendly service. Rest home I visited my friend in was very caring & friendly. Helpful man in the library/info centre. Will make time to visit the museum next visit.

Patea is a small town and recommended as a place to rest and relax. It's wonderful for beach walks - I didn't see anyone swimming but I did see a few boats coming in from fishing. The beaches a typical West coast and quite 'wild' (wind and waves). There's no public transport or Uber in Patea, so you would need to hire a car or maybe a bike, probably from New Plymouth, which is a 1.5 hour drive away. There are other small towns between New Plymouth and Patea which may or may not have hire cars etc. Don't go to Patea if you want nightlife and flash restaurants. Do go if you need peace, relaxation and "me time".

We had the worst takeaways ever from a fish and chip (vape!)

We had the worst takeaways ever from a fish and chip (vape!) shop in town. Truly awful! Better option is the dairy on the main road with the "chicken and chips" signs. Lovely wild beach & friendly locals.
