Upon arrival I was originally given a room on the 1st floor that smelt a bit funny and was too small to install the portable cot I brought for our baby; but reception was very helpful and moved us to a much larger room on the ground floor that was very good: spacious, clean, etc.
The restaurant served good food.

From go to woh this place was awesome! John was super accommodating and helpful. It had everything we needed. Nice and warm - heat pump was good. Beds were comfy and toasty warm. Hot tub was brilliant and super easy to operate.
It whole place has a real retro feel to it so very nostalgic! Was a bit like walking into our grandparents place 30-40 years ago - so awesome :). I will definately be bringing my wee family back for a weekend stay :). Thank you soo much John!

Situated close to A20 and other local bike trails . The Otematata Pub was nearby for meals and drinks..
There are two places to eat in the village. A hotel which caters for tour parties. The bufet looked average. The ala carte menue, which looks interesting is not available every night (barman said). It was available when I was there, but the staff seamed very reluctant to offer it. The steak was limp (looked like it had been cooked in a sous vide, but not flash fried at a high enough temperature) and everything was way, way over salted!!! I was Would not recomend it.
The pub was lovely, good food, great staff and welcoming. Would recomend it.

It was a spur of the moment booking as we had a problem with our car. Great hotel for overnight or several days. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms if a bit "tired". Arrived late and left early so didn't eat on the premises.

I love the scenery and climate there and the locals we met were friendly and helpful.
I recommend The Pink Glider for a meal as well as the kebab truck on the highway. Both have super staff and good food.
Omarama provides a really pleasant holiday get away.

Not a destination town but an ideal location to break a journey and stay overnight. Food at the local pub was good but feel the drink prices are a bit over the top, captivated market maybe ?
Enjoyed the excursion out to the clay cliffs but like a lot of people young and old, could not complete the walk ups the hill.
Would be good if the operators provided transport in the form of a four wheeled quad bike. The view from the car park is good however speaking with a returning walker said " If you can make it then its well worth the effort"

Was disappointed hotel did not inform us restaurant was closed until we arrived.
Ended up going to local pub for a meal. The place was humming. A friendly rural pub with great hosts. Seating became an issue while we were there so ended up sharing a table with strangers but was not a bad thing.
We’re going to get meal in bar but wait times were one hour so decided to use pubs takeout service. Still took 45minutes but burgers were good. Highly recommend pub and their excellent staff who coped well under difficult circumstances, especially kitchen staff.
Arrived late in the evening which the moteliers kindly accommodated. Room was exceptional in terms of fit-out; the bed was excellent and comfortable, the bathroom well appointed, clean and shower had good pressure. Another thing I like is variety of pillow types, I get sick of big bulky pillows. They look good on the bed, but I prefer a flatter pillow to sleep on. This room had a variety which provided me with choice. TV had a variety of sky channels and I think Netflix from memory...
What a beautiful wee motel room we stayed in, only booked in the day before we drove down so I was really pleased we got such a suitable room. awesome privacy, comfortable beds, plenty of room, AMAZING heating system, which was so necessary when we stayed!
The wonderful woman at the front desk was so kind and such a happy person to come across after hours of driving! We will definitely be booking here again if we come back down!
This is a gem. We chose this stop to make our way to Cristchurch a little bit easier. Modern, fresh motel with a lovely staff. Comfortable, clean with a great attention for detail. Real gem at the middle of the desert.
Room was really well presented, first task at hand is to get that heater cranking. A bit of a hike to the hot pools. But one can not complain as the location is superb for night time gazing into the abyss.
Was right by the motorway so easy to find and easy to get to hot pools. Had everything we needed for one night. Beds were super comfy. Two seperate rooms so perfect for family. Lots for kids to do.
I enjoyed how different it was to stay at a sheep station. The location was beautiful and very close to Mt Aoraki. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the kitchen and toilets/showers.
Very clean, comfortable, motel room which seemed to have been very recently renovated. Great bed and a convenient location to visit the Clay Cliffs and the Mount Cook area.
