Fantastic location secluded spot at the back of a Farm . Best way to travel is State Hwy 45 . Beautiful property with lovely fresh cut flowers everywhere, warm fireplace, super friendly hosts who go out of their way to ensure we are comfortable and warm and delicious Continental Breakfast with a gorgeous view. Loved it totally recommend it. Great for Functions too.

We had been traveling in a van for 10 months and we really needed a nice place to stay and relax a little. The tiny house was beautiful and comfy, everything was great, kitchen with all you need, very comfortable bed and the farm where it’s located it’s incredible with all the animals and a nice view of the Taranaki. A big 10/10.

Location is in the country about 4ks from New Plymouth city. Chalets have balconies with comfortable chairs so you can sit and enjoy the views of the sea and sunset. Lovely and quiet very private with a car park right outside your chalet door. We chose a superior apartment for extra room. The living area was upstairs with an extra bathroom plus 2 sofas to lounge on. The bedroom was downstairs with a very luxurious bathroom with double handbasins and double shower heads in the large shower. Upon arrival there was a complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us.

The small cabin is really cozy and host Shaan thought of everything including bread, milk, peanut butter etc. and all utensils are available. The laundry is only a short walk from our cabin and great for washing after a days walk in nearby Mangorei track. The place is truly magical but chaotic as well during windy and rainy night.

This is a place for a get-away to refresh yourself.
This is a place for a get-away to refresh yourself. The boutique accomodation is comfortable and clean. The restaurant at the hotel is special with amazing food, and a great atmosphere. The wifi didnt reach our room but who cares?! we came for a break 💕 Sunshine and great walks nearby made it a great escape from life.
And bonus (although I didnt use it this time) this place is pet friendly so you can stay with your dog!

Okato was the perfect location for us- handy to our families...
Okato was the perfect location for us- handy to our families wedding venue without having to travel all the way back into New Plymouth. It is on the main road South, so easy to find. We had a tasty home cooked breakfast.
The Okato was 5 minutes from a function I attended so was super convenient for my needs. The Okato appears to be an old style country Pub re-purposed into a Restaurant with Accommodation. I had a very big room with a nice shower and a wee mountain view.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Taranaki
