Andre and Sonja’s property was wonderful, and they were incredibly friendly and hospitable. It was homey and warm during our stay which was cold and rainy. They have a beautiful yard looking out into the river and greenery, very peaceful and quiet for those looking for that. We look forward to being back when we have the chance to come down again.

Near everything. Great price. Beds were comfortable and the shower had great water pressure and was hot.
The place is very nice and cozy. Complete cooking utensils are provided. The internet is not that great but still it won't affect the peacefulness that the place can offer.
The spa is clean and works well.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel, and I must say, it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcome throughout my stay.
The highlight of my visit was definitely the room with a stunning mountain view. Waking up to such a beautiful sight was truly refreshing. The room itself was spacious, well-maintained, and immaculately tidy, providing a perfect blend of comfort and cleanliness.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant and memorable experience. The combination of the great staff, the beautiful view, and the superb room made my visit truly exceptional.

We stayed in Ohakune to ride the Old Coach Trail - a walking and cycling trail that runs between Ohakune & Horopito. It's a grade 3 trail and we rode it both ways but most people get a shuttle to Horopito and ride it one way. Lovely trail with thick bush, viaducts and views to Mount Ruapehu.
There are a reasonable number of restaurants/cafes in Ohakune, considering it's a small town. We had dinner at Osteria, which was OK. Utopia had nice coffee and pastries.

We re-visited the Chocolate Eclair shop after a number of years, now under new management, eclairs still amazing. Nice town with the accent on it's access to the snow fields. In the winter season the town would be buzzing but in April very quiet.
Our fish and chip dinner was very disappointing in spite of glowing internet reviews, wouldn't recommend. We should have asked a 'local'
THE POSITIVES: The home was light, airy, and spacious. It was well equipped and had all the conveniences you would need to enjoy a few days away with friends. Great location to restaurants, bars, and cafés all within walking distance. Situated in a quiet, family-friendly neighborhood. We enjoyed the logburner ambiance.
booked a standard room. upon arrival asked if there was one with a kitchenette. the hotelier said there had been some cancellations so there was availability. $20 per night. but ended up not taking the additional money. appeared grumpy. heart of gold. thanks man!! really helped our stay
Great family orientated home, offering plenty of space, whether that be sitting at the large dinner table, chilling on the biggest & comfiest lounge or even having some down time in the big bedrooms. Wood fireplace was a nice touch & kept everything nice & toasty!
Spacious, warm, modern and comfortable for 4 adults and a night with an additional toddler. The office / admin staff were very friendly and flexible. Parking for 2 cars. Space for whānau from neighbouring chalets to come round for a cuppa.
Restaurant on site was really nice, great location in ohakune. Drying room for snow board gear was a great addition, also loved the spa after a day on the mountain. Would have been good to have had extra towels provided for this
