Interesting art deco architecture.
Interesting art deco architecture. The CBD is very walk-able. Good shops and restaurants; we highly recommend Mister D's bistro. Great central location for exploring the Hawke's Bay wine region.

Attended a concert at McLean Park, Napier is so compact it was an easy enough walk. Great eateries, restaurants and wineries. Also some nice stores although some of them were a bit pricey. So many towns and sights are close to Napier and is appropriate for children and adults of all ages. Warning, you definitely need more than just a couple of days!

Napier is a BIG little town with plenty to see and do and lots of seaside walks and inner cycle pathways to explore. Nicely laid out and good places to eat. The reason why big trucks drive through town centre is baffling as there is a bypass to the port and is noisy and ruins the vibe. The significant gang presence in Napier is concerning, they are everywhere and are rude, aggressive, intimidating and seem to revile in their pathetic existence to annoy others.

We stayed here for the Napier Art Deco festival and the location was perfect with lots of free parking which was a real bonus as the town was very busy and many streets closed for the festival. Wonderful hotel with great staff very helpful and friendly. The room on the 5th floor end of corridor was brilliant with floor to ceiling windows on 2 sides the views were fab - in fact I watched the air display from there and had a closer view than people on the ground! We did not use the restaurant but did have breakfast at the swimming pool cafe opposite which was lovely and the Masonic Hotel which was also great. The location was a few minutes walk from the centre of the town so ideal We would absolutely stay here again but you need to book early for the festival in February - we booked in June the year before!

It's unfortunate that Napier, due to still struggling from the storms last year and the harvest staff requiring lodgings, it is very difficult to get reasonable accomodation. We visited Napier several years ago and absolutely loved it.
The Quest properties were a great discovery in NZ....this was the first one we booked and we tried to find them as we continued our NZ adventure. Nice clean room, comfortable bed, friendly staff, walkable to everything in downtown Napier and access to washing machines which were super helpful on a 3-4 week trip!
Note - make sure you reserve a paid parking spot at this hotel if you have a car as parking options are limited around town. Well worth the cost!
This hotel is very well located to view the sights of Napier and is one of its beautiful art deco buildings. The hotel is full of charm and interesting features and the owners/ staff are completely hands-on - welcoming and helpful. We also had a very pleasant dinner in the restaurant. We were sad to only have one night in Napier but staying at the County Hotel made us feel we’d had a really great experience here.
The motel was absolutely perfect extremely spotless I cannot fault my stay I have stayed in a few and I have no hesitation making it my place to go in Napier the service was more pleasing the breakfast was completely satisfying even if I don’t do continental breakfasts I suspect it would be bit more hassle to provide options but I think people would like it but I rate the place as ten star
Very nice apartment separate from the rest of the hosts house. Good hot tub overlooking the ocean! Super friendly hosts who really care about you and your stay. Breakfast was left in the room, cold options but with good coffee. Convenient to the whole Napier area but outside of it a bit so quieter and more relaxed. They had bikes for use as there are trails all over.
Great location, walking distance to the National Aquarium of New Zealand and city centre. On the beachfront main street but not noisy. It's our second time staying and again it's pleasant. Good for ppl who wanna spend a couple days exploring Napier city.
First class accommodation in a beautiful park like setting. The alpacas, like our hosts, were warm and friendly.
You're only 10 minutes from Hasting, Havelock North and Napier. So much to in a wonderful part of New Zealand
We loved the friendly atmosphere in and around the Motel. The facilities for the kids were awesome and the spa was the best. Great clean, comfortable accommodation close to both Napier and Hastings...
Had a lovely stay at the Masonic Hotel. The room was very comfortable and spacious. It’s right on Marine Parade, hardly any distance at all from the MTG and art deco centre (if that’s your thing).
The bed was plush and comfortable. The room was nice and spacious. It was the right value for the price paid, although not the kind of price level I was expecting to pay for Napier.!
So good waking up to an ocean view. Loved a good soak in the big spa after a long day walking around the marine parade. Absolutely enjoyed our stay highly recommend this hotel.
Exceptionally equipped luxury apartment. It had everything. Free streamed Netflix and Prime was a bonus. Central Napier close to everything. Can’t recommend highly enough.
