Where to start, the room was fantastic, generously sized, and the bathroom perfect. Proper milk in the fridge not the rubbish small little tubs you usually get. Bed soft and luscious. The staff is amazing. The breakfast was next level. The communal spaces are so nice and welcoming.

Heat pump was on for our arrival which was great, not having to warm the unit from scratch. Its a shame the fire wasnt operational (but explanation provided by host) and heat pump was very effective.

Our visit to Methven was to go to the hot pools, which were excellent. My husband is not comfortable around water, but found the hot pools to his liking. We had a delicious evening meal at the Green Parrot restaurant, which was very well patronised when we were there. Food and beverage prices were very reasonable.

Couldn’t fault this lovely little village.
Couldn’t fault this lovely little village. Friendly people, tidy place easy to access. Great range of places to explore and enjoy, or to just sit and watch the world go by. A highlight for our group (8 70+) was having coffee at Topp Country Cafe. Go there!

We were there for 2 nights in the summer. Our full day was the best. Drove to the river for a look then parked at the race ground and did the piwakawaka and fairy walk. Had a picnic and then went to the tranquility pools.
Loved the pools and walk up bar. 2 hours was definately long enough and if you dont have kids then def do the adult only side.
All this could have easily been a day trip from Christchurch.
Dinner at the Green Parrot was amazing. We had the calamari and mussles and they were both amazing.
Would not stay at the methven resort again though. No pool and no entertainment or access to the shared space.

Methven is a very nice place to visit.
Methven is a very nice place to visit.
the Resort was a very handy facility but dated now. Restaurant & Bar in the hotel were poorly run. Places to eat out were very handy - walking distance. I would avoid booking with booking.com. The rack rate was more than 1/3 cheaper. Felt ripped off. I booked two further studio rooms for family on the spot and they were $110 per night

Methven is a nice little town to stay for a week if you're skiing, snowboarding or mountain biking in the area. There's 3 pubs and a few restaurants and takeaways, plus a couple of supermarkets. Closest location to Mt Hutt. Just over an hour from Christchurch.
We had our own breakfast with us, the kitchen offered two hot plates along with the microwave a a nice fridge, place open shelving to store our dry foods. The whole unit was totally immaculate. The owners were friendly. The motel is a short walk to the new opuke spa pools which we recommend as a couple to visit in the evening as the sun is going down, beautiful.
Loved the accommodation, so nice to be in the country and enjoy the views and bird song. We found it the perfect spot in Methven for our long weekend. It was relaxing spending time their enjoying the surroundings and easy access to walks. Just a short drive to the hot pools and also spent the day at Methven Races. Hosts friendly and always good communication.
Staff awesome nice atmosphere all round the manger/ owner is pretty cool personally shows you were you room is doesn't just say ur room number and shows u on a map eg like most motels/hotels aww no he walks you to your room witch I thought was really good service. it's good the bars really cool good selection. It's a cosy place also
Excellent location, close to the centre of Methven. Clean and tidy. Very spacious units, suitable for a large group (although we were only 3). Full kitchen with utensils, pots, etc. No grater, which would have been useful. Log fire was excellent. There is a heat pump but it struggled to heat the room in the winter.
The location of the Cedar Chalets is perfect. It is situated on the main road not far at all from Methven town. the chalet was huge for our family (4 people). It had a log burner and a smart TV and the chalet already had wood there for you to use. Highly recommend and we would stay here again.
Did not have breakfast. Close to Darfiled and Christchurch and within walking distance to the Mehtven CBD and resturants.
Hosts very friendly and helpful, explaining what to do in Methven, location of resturants and hot pools etc.
Very good location, walking distance to bars, cafes, restaurants and best off all, close to Opuke Thermal Pools. Amazing hosts, thank you Lesley & Warren you are wonderful, friendly hosts. Thanks for a fantastic stay at your motel
The owners are so so lovely, and made our stay easy and welcoming. The room was clean and tidy with comfy beds. As the motel were quiet for a sunday night, they upgraded us to the two bed suite. would return here if in methven! :)
It is a comfortable, quiet, spotlessly clean and well appointed studio. Ideal for couples. An easy walk into the centre of Methven. Hosts Joanne and Hamish are lovely and very welcoming. Will definitely stay there again.
