The location was quiet. And the garden was beautiful. Loved how cosy the cottage was. I also love the painting of a cat looking through the window.

Hawthorne House, hotel in Hastings

Breakfast is included each morning at Hawthorne House, set amongst gardens and surrounded by fields with views to the surrounding hills. Free Wi-Fi is included.

Everything is really well thought through, we had a lovely warm welcome and it feels like a real home. We were there when the cyclone struck and Peter and Paul could not have been better hosts. They cooked an amazing breakfast with no power, then a great lunch, then supper with all the chaos that the storm brought, and the worries of how this was going to affect them and the amazing community around them. We could not of stayed anywhere better!

Everything was there to ensure a comfortable stay, lots of little touches that were so appreciated! Great recommendations for the area, we booked a dinner at Craggy Range in advance - so recommend this for a special occasion! So cute and private, we loved having a wine by the fire.

    Friendly atmosphere around.

Friendly atmosphere around. Most of amenities and facilities were central. Good variety of orchards to visit, a.nd pick your own fruits. Splash planet is a good place to take the whole family, on a good day, usually in the summertime. A lot warmer than Wellington.

We only visited the Supermarket as we had a Marie function just out of Hastings. We were there most of the weekend. It was beginning to rain when we all left and rained all the way to Gisborne. Hastings looks very tidy and upmarket. I hadn’t visited Hastings for many years. It was great.

This was a visit for a whānau gathering, so my itinerary was pretty much planned before I arrived. I know Hastings well and there are many great things to keep you busy and entertained if you choose to holiday here. If you are coming to Hastings then a stay at Portmans is a great choice. Nice facilities, great location, really cool owners and staff. You can't go wrong!

This is a lovely friendly town and region.

This is a lovely friendly town and region. I’ve traveled here yearly with work and holiday for several decades. Even a week or so after the Feb 2023 cyclone slammed this town it was back up and running for visitors. Even with a lot of bridges closed, traffic still flowed ok with only minor delays during rush hours.

I was in Hastings to participate in an early morning fundraising activity so I was focused on accommodation, food, ease of getting to the fundraising site and buying seasonal fruit. Got seasonal fruit on Sunday as they would not be open on the stat holiday on Monday. Accommodation is good - cheap, well maintained, central location Food - Could not find a restaurant so got take aways Asked at large supermarket in Hastings for location of Flaxmere Park - staff discussion between 5 people resulted in none of them having heard of it.

The property exceeded expectations The staff were very helpful We stayed in a 2 bdrm unit so we didn’t have to use the shared bathroom and kitchen, but after having a look around we found the shared bathroom and kitchen were impeccably clean and well maintained also they had ample mirrors and a hairdryer to use in the bathroom. My kids didn’t need to leave top 10 Hastings there is so much to see and do there for kids. The laundry is accessible 24hours Safe homely environment Every holiday in Hawke’s Bay I will be staying at top 10

We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and during our 3-day stay. The rooms were spotless, well appointed and had everything we needed... a good size, cleaned daily, bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was awesome! This was our first experience here and will be our fist choice next time we're in Hastings. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

We got into Hastings early as we were guna go to Splash planet but it was forced to close because of the weather. The people in the hotel got our room ready very fast so we didn't have to wonder in the pouring rain!
