Staff were very polite and the cabin was clean. We were very surprised how warm the little cabin was. It was in winter and my car was frozen outside, but we didn’t use the heater in the cabin as it was warm enough for us. Enjoyed watching the DVD from the reception. This place was Pet friendly.

A charming Swiss chalet-like hostel full of character, warmth, and nice touches for guests. Tristan is a natural at hospitality, with an innate sense of guest need. Warm, cosy rooms, a log fire, comfy beds and armchairs, a well equipped kitchen, a place radiating backpacker hospitality at its best. Highly recommended. Will remember it well.

I grew up in Christchurch but now live in Melbourne so it was nice to take my partner there. Our family spent many stays in Hanmer growing up in the 80's.
It is nice to see that Hanmer still has the same charm and feel of Swiss Alps.
There is still mini golf; Hanmer Hotel and the walk up conical hill- all the things I remember.
It has grown and I see a lot more tourism but the Alpine resort feel especially in winter is still there....

A quiet Canterbury town with a restorative atmosphere.
A quiet Canterbury town with a restorative atmosphere. It has has not yet succumbed to big business high rise accomodation and over- commercialism, as seen in Wanake and Queenstown. It’s only 90 mins drive from Christchurch and its international airport. It’s cool in both senses. In a secluded valley off the main highway. Thoroughly recommend it for visitors to New Zealand. You can sit in hot pools, go mountain biking or walking. And there’s a farm animal zoo close by for the children. The adventurous can go bungee jumping. There’s skiing close by. And 4-wheel drives shirt and long.

Hanmer Springs is a great break away.
Hanmer Springs is a great break away. For most people, the Hot Pools, nice accommodation and restaurants are the main attractions. Our only negative is that as we drive a Battery Electric Vehicle, there is no fast charger in Hanmer Springs. There are two slow chargers at the pools, and we made use of one of those while we had a swim. The nearest fast charger is at Culverden and there's always a queue in our experience.

The Hot Pools are a great drawcard, always popular.
The Hot Pools are a great drawcard, always popular. Some great restaurants, cafes and bars. Lots of trees, provide welcome shade in summer. Plenty of walking and cycling tracks. Water sports - rafting, jet boats, fishing etc. Craft market on a Saturday. Always a busy place for locals and tourists, so book early.

The Mountain View’s were beautiful and the walking track varied from easy to difficult. The town was very pleasant, clean and well taken care of. The pools were wonderful and especially enjoyed being able to swim laps in the big pool which was never crowded. Overall it was a very pleasant place for a vacation
Beautiful motel rooms with everything you could need. The team was very welcoming on arrival and we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a very big family room. Though we didn't even use the 2 bedrooms as we were a couple it was very spacious and we will definitely book this room next time we are in Hanmer with a bigger group as it would be perfect. The views from the master bed were stunning! Sadly we were only staying for one night - we wished we could have stayed longer. Will definitely be back, thank you team Scenic Views!
The suites are very large and really comfortable with everything you could need. The bathrooms are fabulous and include a spa bath, which we didn't use. c.7km out of Hanmer Springs you are a bit 'captive' for dinner but great location if you want to relax and explore the area. Dinner was good and not too pricey - we had the lamb shank and parmesan encrusted salmon. The hotel was quiet when we stayed so there were not many staff members evident. We only stayed one night so didn't make use of the spa etc.
Carrie and the rest of the staff were wonderful. I had a series of unfortunate hiccups delaying my arrival and they were very nice to accommodate me. The actual lodge is very very clean and inviting. The bed was comfortable with enough layers if you are cold (or too hot). The showers were always clean and the kitchen had all utensils you could need to cook with. The location was amazing as well. About a 4 minute walk into town and right next to the Hanmer Springs Spa and Pools!
Great to be so close to everything.
Kids loved playing in the grounds and the morning breakfast! People complain on here about the range offered, but so few hotels offer breakfast anymore, it was great to have it! The kids loved the choice and the toast machine!
You can order/pay for real coffee at the bar too.
If you’re a large family or two groups, you could book joining outside cabins.
Best motel near hot pools as others got traffic noise, its off main road but easy to walk. The bedroom I dark at night, no nasty lights. Bed very comfortable, 3 sources of heating. A full kitchen very useful. Hosts exceptionally nice. Spotlessly clean, no nasty chemical smelling sprays. Best price an value for money of all 4 motels nearby. Good parking for our camper.
The chalet was very spacious, with a very comfy bed and a few extra blankets which were so needed! I loved the carport so my windows weren’t frozen over in the morning, saved so much time not having to unfreeze them. The staff were also so lovely. Great location, I didn’t have to drive long to see the things in Hanmer Springs that I wanted to!
A very well appointed, spacious, clean holiday home. Was super comfortable and perfect for our large family. The location is beautiful and very quiet. The hosts are super accomodating and we so nice to take us out to see the Mares and Foals - who are even friendlier! We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Hanmer.
Drifters Inn was the perfect place to stay in Hanmer Springs. It was situated right in the centre of the action and across the road from the Hot Springs.
Everything was perfect and the kitchen was immaculately clean with a comfortable dining and sitting room for self catering. We highly recommend Drifters Inn.
We had a lovely 3 bedroom apartment for 4 adults and 2 children under 5. We were on the ground floor which was perfect. Large kitchen. Short stroll into the village for coffee. Location was just right as was our stay for 3 nights in Hanmer Springs. Owner and staff were incredibly helpful towards our needs.
The room was clean and we liked it had all the bits and bobs we could need which other motels often forget (iron, corkscrew etc). The managers/owners were very friendly and accommodating too. Great location too; within walking distance of the pools, bars, restaurants and walks.
This was a great tidy and clean unit that was perfect for our quick stay in Hanmer. It was close to the main street and hot pools and had plenty of parking. The staff was lovely, and it was great having a little kitchen to use.
Peaceful stay in Hanmer, very close to the forest park / sculpture walk. Would be great for kids / families as there is a trampoline/play amenities. The accommodation met all our needs & the Easter eggs were a nice touch.
Superb all round. Terrific friendly staff. And ... a rarity amongst NZ motels ... good coffee along with proper milk - so simple, yet so rare. Room was warmed in anticipation of our late arrival back from the pools.
Space for the kids to play. Well equipped kitchen. Great selection of movies to watch when it was wet. Cabins had good set out with space for bags and gear and plenty of hooks to hang towels and jackets.
