We loved our stay here. Great hosts, especially Trish who took good care of us. Breakfast was a standout, with fantastic conversation and history of the area. Although we are New Zealanders, it was really good to interact like a tourist and enjoy the history update at the breakfast table.

The location was perfect and the house very spacious. The views of Mount Tasman and Mount Cook from the house were amazing. The rooms were a lovely size, each with a view. Thank you for a perfect stay and would thoroughly recommend.

Fox Glacier is quite stunning, walk is relatively easy to first viewing point, we didn't get any further due to bad weather. Lovely eating places in town and a grocery store. Quite a small town so very quiet. We weren't there long enough to really explore the area

As a hiker I loved the lakes walks, and also the glacier lookout walk would have been great but the weather on that day was just too wet to complete. The lake Matheson cafe is a lovely place after a hike or good breakfasts beforehand. The town is limited, so if I wasn’t a hiker I would only have stayed a night and moved on.

There are several interesting walks to the glacier, lake etc. The helicopter to the glacier itself can be booked easily from the town. There are a number of good restaurants within easy walking distance. A overnight stay is all that is required to see & do everything.

We did the short tramp to Fox Glacier. It’s totally worth the effort.
It’s only 30min drive to Franz Joseph where we tramped the 5 hr Roberts Point track. Reasonably arduous tramp, but again totally worth the effort.
This is a decent motel just on the edge of Fox Glacier Town about 6 kms from Lake Matheson on the road to the Glacier Viewpoint and as a result its location suited us fine. It's handy for the town but we were self catering. There's just enough in the kitchenette to do this successfully but there's only 2 of everything.
The room was comfortable, the bathroom adequate - what you'd expect in a standard motel though there were some good quality toiletries to make a bit of a difference. Staff were helpful.
Heartland Hotel Glacier Country is conveniently located at State Highway 6 and close to the Fox Glacier and a number of cafes/restaurants. We did a Mt Cook and Fox Glacier flight with snow landing with a company almost next door to the hotel and it was a fantastic experience.
The hotel is just about 30 minutes drive from the Franz Josef glacier and about 5km from Lake Matheson, which has a very good Fox Glacier lookout.
Location was perfect! Short drive to town and walking distance to a popular eatery, Betsey Jane. Room and bathroom were very clean. I personally loved the heated mattress topper. The staff was very helpful in guiding us into things to do and see around Fox Glacier. She also answered our questions about things to do in Franz Josef as we were driving there the next day.
The hotel staff were kind and helpful, and the room was impeccably clean and comfortable. The location is highly convenient, allowing for easy access to local restaurants and stores. Additionally, there is a glow worm trail situated right next to the hotel, providing an opportunity for a unique and enchanting experience.
It's just a basic motel. The price is ok compared to other motels in this area (the accommodation in this area are way too expensive and equipped with only basic things too).
For a one night stay it's ok.
If you come to fox glacier just to see lake matheson, think again. It's not worth your petrol, time, and money.
The room is good and spacious for our use. The kitchen well equip with utensils and generous supply of coffee and tea. Our room facing the garden and have good view of distance snow cap mountain. Location is great and short drive to have photo of the Fox Glacier. Super mart is just a short drive to the main road.
A grand old dame. Somewhat tired, but loved nonetheless. Not too many options in Fox Glacier but this seemed one of the best on offer. The room was comfortable and served its purpose. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to use the laundromat which was handy and breakfast was okay.
Location - proximity to Fox Glacier and Fox village. Loved looking out the bedroom window this morning to a beautiful snow capped mountain view. Staff went above and beyond. Lovely of Lee to take guests out each night for a walk through the forest to see the glow worms.
We loved the spacious grounds of the motel with fantastic views of the mountains. The room was clean and well-appointed. Great location within Fox Glacier village and just a short drive away from many attractions. Staff were also friendly and helpful.

The Lodge was very comfortable and cozy. Check-in was easy, staff was very nice. The fully stocked kitchen various breakfast options was our favorite. Overall, this was a beautiful and comfortable stay.
Comfortable room, very friendly and helpful staff, and quiet since it is slightly off the main road. The hotel bar and restaurant is also good value and welcoming. I'll definitely stay again next time.
