Hotel location just off the road and right by the fjord where there is a small beach area to sit, sunbathe or even take a dip as the fjord is very shallow. We appeared to be the only tourists in the hotel other than a few workmen staying over. Probably because it was still considered low season (mid May). We were allocated a room which was perfectly adequate with a nice modern bathroom but we're told afterwards that we should have been given a better and bigger room and we were given the option to change. As we were settled we declined the offer. Dinner was made available and was very nice indeed, a Norwegian classic called bacalao, very tasty!! Staff friendly and helpful and spoke good English.

Phillipshaugen Lodge has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Øksendalsøra. Among the various facilities are a bar and ski storage space.

Phillipshaugen is one of those magic places you should not miss out. We stayed in the spacious cottage, which provided ample space to dry out wet motorcycle gear. A fully equipped kitchen and other amenities made this stay worth noting. The scenery at Philipshaugen is magic and anyone staying there should take time to just 'watch the paint dry' outside... The team at Phillipshaugen goes out of their way to accommodate their guests. You immediately feel at home.

Breakfast was good, nothing special but a typical Norwegian hotel breakfast. Scottish decor was interesting in the reception area.

Beautiful location on the banks of the Tingvollfjord. Everything about this hotel was fabulous and it is definitely in my top 3 hotels out of the 30 I stayed at during my 5 week trip around Norway (actually stayed twice)! Amazing food, particularly the tasting menu dinner. Cozy lounges with real fires and amazing views of the fjord / surrounding mountains. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful and cozy cabin in a quiet camping area. We arrived late and tired but the hostess made us feel warmly welcomed. The cabin was very tidy and well equipped. The newly renovated shower and toilet inside the cabin were amazing surprise. Sadly we had to continue early in the next morning, otherwise we would have stayed another night here. But we will be back sooner or later. Thanks for having us!
