Very friendly reception. Clean, heaters cosy in bedroom. Beds comfy.
Flam is not a town in the normal sense. It is a tourist destination to connect travelers to ferries and the train. However, there are hikes and biking trails as well as many fjord trips on offer. We wanted an extra day so that we could get out on the fjord more. We ate at an excellent restaurant at the marina.

If you're not engaging in hikes kayaking or special bike rides, one day sufficient inclusive of doing the Fjord
The Flam railroad is a must...1 hour one way. Can do RT or continue to other destinations.
Beware! If a huge cruise liner pulls in many folks will beb with you for a full day

Nice and wonderful small town with a beautiful fjord.
Nice and wonderful small town with a beautiful fjord. If you are not interested in "long nature walks", 2 days is enough as the town is quite small.
Don't like the big ships coming into Flam as it spoils the scenery.
Scenic rail is a must do and individual bike ride around is also great

Lovely location, friendly staff and very clean.
Lovely location, friendly staff and very clean. We didn't like the location of our room by the noisy kitchen and we didn't like sharing a bathroom with several other rooms - when we booked it stated we would be sharing with just one other room. Expensive for what it was but we understand that the location does command a higher price as it's sought after!

Beautiful location with good public transport links.
Beautiful location with good public transport links. Touristy obviously with the Flam railway at its core including rail museum and clothing outlets. As a base for car touring you face long tunnels going north (25km) and south (5km) so not one for tunnel phobes. Viking themed restaurant and pubs kitschy but food and beer ok.
It left a bad taste in an otherwise nice family holiday in Norway.
This is a continuation from the "what you didnt like" below.
We received a message the next day saying that they could change our accomdation and help us find the best solution. The message came quite late. Nonetheless, when we called the number given, it went to voicemail again!. We gave up because we were about to check out in the next 12 hours and we did not want to waste our precious time on a family holiday.
Lovely host and perfect location where time just easily passes by just listening to the waterfalls and gazing at the wonderful views from the cottage front.
Thank you for kicking off a great start to our Norway road trip!
A stunning hotel inside and out and a lovely bit of ‘luxury’ for us after lots of hiking and cycling. Great location and clean, comfy rooms. The breakfast was really nice, lots of options. Staff were all really friendly.
