Staff were lovely - very polite and helpful.
We were given a room upgrade on arrival - a lovely surprise - to a beach front bungalow with use of a great swimming pool that was really clean. The room was very spacious and clean with great AC, and quiet too. The bed was really comfy and all the linen and towels clean and soft.

Kinarut is a stop on only railway in Borneo. We took the train at 7:45am southbound from Tanjung Aru station. Can also be reached easily via GRAB from BKI, KK's international airport: 15 - 20 minutes.
Kinarut was the location for a refugee camp for Vietnamese boat people in the 1970s. After the Vietnamese were relocated to USA and elsewhere, local refugees [Philippines; Indonesia] filled the camp. Area has a reputation for poverty, but we did not witness the camp. Strip of beach has a number of resorts which offer a variety of price points and services - all quite affordable.
An excellent resort that is value for money. It is right next to the beach at a much more affordable price compared to Tanjung Aru. Also we discovered an additional bonus of firefly sightseeing tour just minutes from the hotel
Really nice hotel , all the staff were friendly and helpful , the hotel provides a really good breakfast and the rooms are large and comfortable. The swimming pools are a real added bonus .
Upgrade to units facing beach with own pool made this visit special. Other units are farther away and have their own pool. Food was excellent and varied. Nice wine cellar!
