Bayview Hotel by ST Hotels, hotel in Siġġiewi

Bayview Hotel & Apartments offers a 24-hour internet café, and a rooftop swimming pool overlooking the harbour at Sliema. Some accommodation comes with a balcony, and some feature sea views.

The location of this hotel is perfect if you want to see Malta. There is a bus stop right outside the door with buses that take you mostly anywhere you would want to go. Valetta is a short ferry or bus ride away. Bayview is on a street with a lot of restaurants and shops. The staff in bayview for the most part were lovely, specifically the breakfast staff and cleaners. The room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable. The rooftop pool for the most part is a nice experience, the view is magnificent and it’s nice to have the option of having a drink by the pool from the bar. The one thing I will say is that the facilities at the pool may need a bit of updating i.e. the jacuzzi and indoor pool. In terms of value for money, I would say bayview is a pretty good stay.

The Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta, hotel in Siġġiewi

Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in St Julian's, The Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta offers 2 private beaches, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, one of which is heated, and 3 restaurants.

The whole stay was fantastic, rooms are big and very comfortable. As we have young children, sometime the maid will surprise us cute animals shaped from towels, which is an extraordinary touch we didn't expect.

The place is definitely not touristy, which is great if you want to experience a real local vibe. On the other hand it means that there's not much to do - sights are very limited, as well as dining options. It's a good base to explore Malta if you have wheels. Getting to Gozo was less practical - you'll spend 1,5 hrs each way (including ferry).

Siggiewi is a small relatively quiet town away from Valleta and the urbanisation that has spread throughout the north eastern side of Malta. If you want access to these areas know you are rarely more than 30mins away from almost anywhere on the island. You'll also be guaranteed sunshine and temperatures you can cope with in September. Good food is everywhere the only sad thing personally is the lack of wildlife. The extinction that climate activists talk about seems to have already happened on this island. What a shame.

It's an authentic village/small town location with a series of good local restaurants and a great local wine bar. Regular buses provide access to all the main Island towns and sites or it provides a good jumping off point if you have your own transport. Dominated by a huge old church and classic town square with local shops and facilities. Worth a wander through the narrow streets of the old town after dark and a glass or two of local wine in the Levels Wine Bar.
