While I was a very, very late and unexpected booking (I only booked 15 minutes before arriving at the property), the staff jumped into action upon my arrival. After cranking up the generator (Sri Lanka was suffering from enforced power cuts), my air-conditioned room was offered up in a matter of minutes. This was indicative of my stay with staff being friendly, responsive and eager to please (they also organised an all-day private safari at Yala National Park for me). My room was spacious, and my breakfasts and dinners were tasty and filling.

The pool is 75 metres and nice and warm! We all loved the pool, good gym and nice coffee area/bar (the older gentleman that worked in there took pride in making us 3 lovely cappucinos). Quirky and fun having cows roaming around the pool. Beds and pillows comfy. Would have been a stunning hotel in its day.

The staff were friendly and professional. Kirula and Nishantha received a special mention for their service. The unique bush camp setting was remote and offered a unique experience. The jeep safari was the cherry on top of the cake!

This hotel is amazing, don't think about it, just go!
- The staff are the kindest and most attentive we've met. They anticipate, adapt, are proactive and are exceptionally kind. Whether it's the waiters (special thanks to the king of kings Chinthaka but also to Nuwan & Chamara), the Rangers and their detailed explanations, the cleaning staff or the reception staff, they make the experience truly unique.
- The food is delicious and varied. You'll find great Western and local dishes on the menu at every meal. Special thanks to the chef for his special creations.
- the individual huts are magnificent, clean and very pleasant.
- the safaris are very interesting and you can see dozens of animals (elephants, crocodiles, leopards etc) in sumptuous landscapes.
- finally, thank you again to the staff for all the little personal touches and activities they offered us.
In short, everything was perfect, you don't have to think about anything and just enjoy this timeless place.

We visited Yala for two days (with two separate game drives - one evening and one morning one) and although we enjoyed the animals we observed, we did not have any sightings of leopards despite being the national park with the highest concentration in the world. But that is nature so we were just unlucky on those days. However, the most disappointing aspect of Yala was the sheer number of vehicles allowed into the park at one time. As soon as elephants or leopards are sighted, drivers communicate among themselves and vehicles all rush to the scene creating a massive traffic jams. This makes it feel very mass market and doesn’t seem very respectful of the wildlife

Terrible time. No wild animals as expected.
Terrible time. No wild animals as expected. Roads are all around the jungle which is pretty disturbing to the wild life. After all it is supposed to be a protected zone for wild life. Jeeps are crawling every corner of the territory. Amused to see all of that disturbing scenes in a wild life protected zone. It's like business zone. Poor animals.

I loved Yala.
I loved Yala. The number of different animals seen was slightly disappointing but apparently wash outs due to rain prevented us from accessing some internal roads. The sunrise and scenery were stunning. I would rate it as good value despite the lack of animals. The whole experience was wonderful.

The national park in Yala is beautiful however it is hard to drive around as the roads are poorly maintained. There is a large populatin of birds and i think this safari would suit bird watchers more than those who want to see the elephants. The 6am -6pm safari is too long.
Sigiriya is far superior when it comes to large herds of elephants.

The hike in the nature reserve was amazing, we saw lots of amazing animals and landscapes.
Were lucky and we were able to meet the tiger as well.
It is important to note that the trip should take drinks and food, the hotel staff where we were did not tell us the length of the trip and did not make sure to let us know that we should take care of ourselves.
Of course we were smarter and brought with us the necessary equipment ..
But there were those next to us who did not and that was unfortunate

We stayed at Laya Beach resort which was very beautiful and was very close to our safari's which made our stay even better.
The beach, however, was too rough to swim which was a little disappointing.

We loved everything about this hotel! As this is a small hotel (only 3 rooms), we were the only guests (we booked 2 rooms here). Everything looks like new, there’s a nice pool zone, you can reach beach on foot (takes less than 10 minutes). The staff was amazing and we couldn’t imagine a better service. They prepared a lunch box for our 5AM Yala safari tour. We also had lunch and dinner here - the food was amazing and the portions were huge. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who considers having a safari at Yala national park!
This is a nice and wild place very close to the Yala National Park. The bungalows are simple but nicely blended in the natural environment. People from the staff was always present and happy to take care of us. They also entertained us during the dinner with some nice music. We had a morning walk around the lodge with their expert naturalist who was happy to share his knowledge about animals and plants with us. Really appreciated! The sunset from the big rock inside the camp is fantastic.
it was a beautiful property with only a few rooms all at a high quality spec, rooms were massive with amazing views, immaculately clean and the staff couldn’t do enough for us, so friendly and helpful. Food was lovely (especially the breakfast) and only 15 mins drive to Yala park and easy to book safaris through the hotel. Would highly recommend and would return if we ever went back to Yala.
