We had to make a last minute booking and reached the hotel around midnight. The staff received us. It's a great hotel in a great location with all the amenities. Has a in-house restaurant as well where we had our breakfast. The room was nice clean and spacious. Bathroom as well. No complaints.

The hotel is on the hills and can be a bit hard to drive to but our driver had no problem, to be honest.

it's great place but for foreigner they charge fees for everything such as entry fee to enter the place to visit and there is no any free facility which is not good. as a traveler we are going to visit city and promote the city on our social networks therefore we should have some facility to get some exempt the charges to view more about city.
every attraction they have entry fee.

A good place for visiting the Horton Plains National Park-...
A good place for visiting the Horton Plains National Park- negociate locally for the 40 min drive in a Tuk Tuk ( 9000 lks is about right). It has a nice lake to walk around. The Rough Guide though old is still very useful. The centre is small and compact with good facilities .. The exception is the 'Tourist Office' close to the bus station.. It is close to useless - dont look for impartial advice as the owner has his own Tuk Tuk!. Victora Park is worth a stroll.

Quaint little town in the hills. So, cooler climate and perfect spot to take a break from the sweltering heat in Colombo. La Grande Villa is just a 10 minute walk from town and a 5 bedroom boutique hotel, which makes it the ideal place for a quiet, restful stop before Ella.

Nuwara Eliya is a sleepy town nestled within acres of tea estates , which has maintained a lot of its colonial buildings that it almost looks like a different country altogether. Hence the name Little England.
It is best suited for an Individual or family that is looking to just relax at one property with great views , dabble in luxury (there are a few options) , do a little bit of sightseeing (all nature related) and experience the architecture of the town itself. It’s non-touristy.. None of the places we visited were crowded or dirty. The town sleeps by 10pm.

we spent 2 days in the off season (mid feb 2024) which was perfect, no overcrowding, mad traffic and great weather. We stayed 1 night in a studio apartment and 1 night at a small guest house both were perfectly maintained and very nice accommodations well worth the price.
check the weather and go in the off season to enjoy and relax in NE as it should be done!
We stayed here a week ago and it left us heartfelt. I can say it was one of the best stays I have had. We arrived around midnight and once we reached they didn’t even feel exhausted to treat us. The hospitality was great, they helped us with everything and the chef did a great job. We loved the food a lot, it felt like home and the brownie he made left me speechless. And there’s a 2km walk up in the tea estate of the hotel where the view is amazing. I would strongly recommend it if you guys come to Nuwara Eliya :).
We highly recommend to book Heidi’s home if you want to experience Sri Lankan Homestay, Home food and Hospitality… the owner is a super awesome woman… very cooperative and kind enough to help us with all required things… she also guided us on places to explore around in Nuwara eliya and Ella… Breakfast was fulfilling and completely home made… the house is so nicely decorated by her that u can spend some time in exploring and snapping it…Must visit Heidi’s home for Home stay experience
I would highly recommend to staying in these apartments when visiting Nuwara Eliya. Apartment was very spacious and very well equipped.
The apartment was lovely and clean with fresh and its a brand new apartment! It had a lovely view of the lake , tea state field & mountain opposite and its right next to Lake walking path. There was a microwave, fridge, hob, nice sofa and a dining table, there were 2 balconies.

This was an amazing place to stay , a lovely setting looking out over hills and tea plantations and great views. The location is not far from the station but a longer tuk tuk ride to the town.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly looking after us really well. The decor of rooms is homely and stylish, a bit of luxury in Nuwara Eliya. The food is very good too. There is a pool, putting and tennis if you have time to try them!
This review is for a basic hotel and not luxury. For that it was quite good. Slept much better here than the higher standard hotel in Kandy (The Radh). Simple breakfast, simple bathroom, simple room, and uncomplicated service. Near restaurants and easily walkable into the centre. This hotel had the BEST chilli paste of ALL Sri Lanka, This alone is reason to stay here and travel to Nuwara Eliya!

I liked everything, if you need to have a hotel in Nuwara Eliya, the cottage is very good choice.
The family that manages the cottage is as attentive, caring and sweet as possible. Our two nights in the hotel was wonderful. breakfasts are good, it is tea, black coffee, fried eggs, pancakes and desert.

Lovely colonial hotel. Warm comfortable rooms and walking distance to town. This hotel is full of character. Pack your Sunday best for after 7pm as you’re required to dress up for dinner and the bar (men can borrow a jacket and tie). It’s all part of the charm of the hotel. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend for your stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Really nice hostel, very clean, hot showers, comfortable beds. Nuwara Eliya is cold at night in general but we found the duvets to be nice and warm so it was fine. 10 minute walk to shops and restaurants. 2 minute walk to the grand hotel where there is a nice cafe for coffee. Hosts were very helpful with advice, also very laid back, felt very comfortable there.
The room was so clean and cozy. The location of this place is near the center of Nuwara Eliya. Victoria park is walking distance away. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Beds were really nice with cozy linens. They serve Sri Lankan and Continental breakfast. Towels, soap, shampoo, hairdryer and electric kettle were provided. Had a good WiFi as well.
Wonderful small hotel in Nuwara Eliya which is walkable to pretty much everything in the town. The staff went out of their way to make my stay comfortable from giving me tips on what could be done during the very unfortunate curfew. The room was one of the largest of my trip and the bed super comfy. Great breakfast that was filling albeit humble.
I had a wonderful stay with my family, and I would like to give a special thanks to all the friendly hotel staff. The breakfast was delicious with a lot of varieties. The location is great, since it’s located in the city center. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely come back here if we are in Nuwara Eliya.
The staff and food at the Montfort Hotel are excellent, offering real value for money. Super clean with a nice view, we were pleasantly surprised by the property and the staff at Montfort Nuwara Eliya. The highest value for the money we paid, everything was perfect, including the Sri Lankan breakfast.
