The hotel is small and cozy located right on the beach. The size of the room is generous and they were cleaned well. We had some amazing food at the restaurant: banana pancakes, fruits, curd, lobster with seafood, kottu. The attention and services the staff gives is unparalleled in all my travels - they will give you flowers when you make photos, escort you to car at 4am, run to give you umbrella or help with moving sun beds. Our host Peter was the sweetest, most enthusiastic and lovable host, an absolute delight! And the breakfast... soooo amazing! Besides that, the place itself is also absolutely stunning, with a beautiful (and clean) pool.

I loved the turtle beach where 4 turtles could be seen morning and evening in the water.
I also had the fortune to be in Hikkaduwa when the baby turtles were hatching and witnessed when they were released in the evening around sunset.
The sunsets in Hikkaduwa are really unreal.
The water is quite clear and so hot. What else can you want from a beach town.
I personally spent most of my meals at the Hungry Bug. They offer a great selection of local food and some western food too. Everything is fresh and cooked on the spot.

This is an ideal destination for those seeking adventure, relaxation, and immersion in nature. It offers a plethora of activities, including exploring the Kanneliya rainforest, enjoying kayak or traditional boat rides in the lagoon, encountering turtles on the beach, and indulging in the variety of restaurants and souvenir shops available nearby. The area had a good mix of shops, bars etc and prices were reasonable. You can choose to stay in central higher end hotels or cheaper options on the periphery but tuktuks only cost about 700rps from one end to the other. Perhaps 1500rps in the evening.
We preferred staying outside the main area because it was much quieter but so easy to walk into town along the beautiful beach.

Lots of choice of food available from vegan/vegetarian (steffi mandala) amazing noodles and a good chilled vibe on the beach or probably the best sea food restaurant unfortunately road side was Bambinis look it up, food is excellent and a very good price. We'll stocked supermarkets. A good accommodation choice either beach or jungle.

Hikkaduwa is good and easy, very tourists friendly for friends, families and couples. Opportunities to snorkel, surf, swim and relax on the beach. There is also big techno parties on some nights and they will make too much noise through the night but it is just on night time to time.

it is a very nice place for several days if you want to relax on the beach or do some surfing. There are many surfing schools for all levels.
the beach is also very nice and clean, the water is tansparent, some people say the waves are too big, but if you swim a little bit further - it just absolutelly ok.
Absolutely dead quiet. No tuk tuk or bike signs, just the odd barking dog. Tuk tuk drivers will tell you it's "jungle side", and it's about a 20 minute walk to Narigama beach then a further 20 minutes to Hikka beach, or a 500 or so tuk tuk but finding one down to the beach might be difficult. I suggest walking down and tuk tuk back.
The hosts were great. The breakfast was a fusion of Sri Lankan/Western. Foxy the dog was gorgeous. The cabanas are really beautiful in that setting.
first of all it’s right on the beach. This family run hotel serves great food compared to other spots on the Hikkaduwa beach and everyone is super friendly. There is a Surfschool in front of the hotel which is run by family. So if you are planning a surf lesson and you are staying at Universal it’s worth to negotiate a price for the surf lesson. The surf teachers are real professionals and will take care of you. Hence Hikkaduwa has some strong surf and impressive waves.
The staff were fantastic, the staff at reception, Ireshu and Vijith could not have been more helpful, the waiters in the restaurant Kushan and Madusha were brilliant, and Chef Sunil was extremely attentive. All of the staff were always smiling. Lucky Elephant is a beautiful modern boutique hotel, stylishly furnished and spotlessly clean. It is in a great location on the beach. I would highly recommend this hotel to any friends lucky enough to visit Hikkiduwa.
Had a lovely stay at Serenade Beach Hotel, the staff were great and the room was big and comfortable, with amenities (TV, safe, hairdryer etc) that in Sri Lanka are often missing at smaller hotels. The position was perfect -- a short walk to the party places but far enough away not to be bothered by noise. Good food at the restaurant and a reasonable breakfast. Travelling on my own as an older woman, I felt well looked after and secure.
Amazing boutique hotel. The rooms are surrounded by a gorgeous and natural garden why plenty of small wild animals and birds that wake the guests up in the morning with their morning celebration sounds. Comfortable room (I stayed for 5 days in the simplest room with no AC and it was ok). Good bed and shower. Beautiful relaxing pool. Delicious Sri Lankan breakfast, be open to try it. Walk distance to the beach and restaurants.
A perfect place for a relaxing getaway. The hotel is located outside the busy Hikkaduwa center, but is still a short tuktuk ride (or even a walk!) away from all the restaurants and services of the town. The only "noise" you can hear to your room is the sound of the waves on the beach. The hotel also offers a nice restaurant, morning yoga, massages.... We really enjoyed our stay here!
Having a room with a perfect view of Hikkaduwa Turtle Beach stretching to the horizon was a breathtaking experience. The meals at the hotel's restaurant were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. The friendly and attentive service provided by the staff made us feel right at home. We look forward to reliving these memories on our next visit to this wonderful hotel.
This hotel is one of the best hotels in our Sri Lanka Trip. The design is very nice, modern, and stylish. We loved every moment when we stayed here. The food in the Japanese restaurant is also really delicious. We wish to stay there again on our next trip to Sri Lanka :)

We were here off season, but I think during season it’s one of the best places to stay. A lot of restaurants and shops nearby, supermarket and wine shop is next door.

Hosts are lovely. The accomodation is on the beach directly and you can hear the ocean from the room. Room was clean and well maintained compared to other places in Sri Lanka.
You’re literally staying on the beach. The staff, food and drinks are fantastic. Really quirky and funky decor, one of the coolest boutique hotels I’ve stayed at.
