Perfect location right on the beach! The rooms are beautiful and spacious, all ocean facing. The AC and fan made it pleasant to stay during this hot season. Breakfast was delicious 😋 I enjoyed the omelet and pancakes. It's a great location as it's on the main road and very easy to reach several places. Galle and Weligama are just minutes away. So may attractions all within the area. Very easy to use public transport right outside.

The reviews for this property are quite unfair. It’s a great place to stay, with obviously a stunning location. Yes, the building is a little dated but I’d just call it rustic. The rooms were clean and spacious, with fridge fan, big bathroom, excellent balcony with the top views, sheets are washed and cleaned and no mouldy walls as other reviews said.
The grounds of the hotel have loads of seating areas, access to the river or small beach and was obviously designed for large amounts of guests, but when I stayed I think I had the whole hotel to
myself.
The staff were very friendly to me, it’s just a matter of being friendly back, despite any language barrier. And of course the price is great value. I really enjoyed my stay and actually booked an extra night.
If you want a big historic place, maybe all to yourself, give it a try. Don’t listen to the other bad reviews as they are just waay too fussy.

We would high recommend the company “BOAT SAFARI IN KOGGALA” as a fab & knowledgeable company to do a boat trip around Koggala lake. They were so knowledgeable about plants, wildlife and the islands. A fascinating 2 hrs. We would definitely recommend. They can organise tuk tuks to get you there and back also.

Ahangama town has changed from a very busy fishing village to a hotspot in the south of Sri Lanka. And that at a rapid pace. There are many new and good restaurants, parties on the beach or in rooftop bars. The quiet time is over. For travellers seeking peace and quiet, the inland of Ahangama is more suitable. But here, too, there is a tendency towards more posh hotels with DJs in the evening and overpriced food and coffee - unfortunately.

Ahangama is a totally calm and peaceful and crowed less seashore metropolis with majestic palm trees all round it. there is no sound apart from the waves hitting the shore and swaying of the timber making it ideal for a chilled holiday.
A small city in Southern Province, Ahangama is a mystery treasure in Sri Lanka. recognized for its pristine beaches, glowing waters, and picturesque landscapes, this town is indeed one of the maximum beautiful ones in the united states. although it isn't completely developed, it's far effortlessly available thru Galle, a first-rate metropolis that lies only 20 minutes from Ahangama. This metropolis, being the epitome of serenity, is certainly one of the right getaways within the country.
Ahangama overlooks the cultured Weligama Bay, that is a occurring place within the town. The famous tuk-tuk takes passengers from the primary city to the Bay. Weligama is the significant surfing spot, browsing being one of the predominant points of interest of Ahangama. apart from browsing, Wellingama offers beachside stores, restaurants, shacks, and bars.

Ahangama was epic! We stayed at a spot called Tharanga surf villa. Seriously great location on a great beach that has waves for all skill levels of surfers. You can hire a board or get a lesson through the hotel even if you like. The breakfasts are incredible and give you a taste of local cuisine. The room is comfortable and all you need - the aircon is a big plus! When the power goes out in the area they have a generator so that’s cool. The people who own and run it are so friendly and helpful. Try hire a scooter to get around to all the different beaches if you’re staying for a while. There are loads of places to eat - try the local places they’re cheaper and their food is super tasty! We ate at a variety of local places and got Kotu and curry. Don’t go to the western owned places and pay triple the price! Try a little spot on the beach just past Open Heart cafe (which also has a great view at sunset) I don’t know the name unfortunately.

Ahangama is a busy town within 30 minutes drive to Galle, Galle Fort or Unawatuna to the North, and to Midigama, Weligama and Marissa to the South.
So many restaurants/bars within and close to Ahangama, often with live music.
Tuk tuks are cheap and taxis easily available for longer drives.
Our stay the flora ahangama was 10/10 recommended. We stayed here for two nights. we were able to see a lot of great things, explore the area and end up falling in love with it. Fortunately, we were the first guests there. The owners treated us like members of their own family. Everything was great. The small kitchen is equipped with all necessary appliances, including a gascooker and all appliances, including a washing machine.
we loved staying there. if you want to visit ahangama you should definitely stay at the flora ahangama.
Cute family run place, beautiful jungle around you, quiet, calm and peaceful. Many animals - monkey, squirrel, birds... Super close to nice secluded little beaches. Simple jungle hut with double bed with mosquito net and fan. Power socket close to bed. Temperature good with fan during day and night. Simple outdoor bathroom with shower, toilet, mirror and sink. Nice breakfast (Western or Sri Lankan - you can choose). Owner and his family are so friendly and nice and want to make your stay good! Can also do laundry here :)
This was the nicest accomodation we had in Sri Lanka. The villa is located in a beautiful garden, it was very calm and the room we stayed in was very spacious with a big private terrace. On the ground floor there is a kitchen so you can prepare breakfast and always refill your water bottle. The owner as well as the manager are lovely and create a very special vibe. There are so many nice beaches around, good surfing vibes and many good places to eat. We loved Ahangama and especially the swallow villa a lot!
One of the best stays we have ever had! Our room was beyond perfect - the shower and outdoor bath were to die for, and the views were exceptional. The food was amazing (especially the breakfast!) and all the staff made sure our stay was perfect - I can’t even single anyone out because they were all so lovely. Location was also great - in a quiet area but with lots of shops, cafes and restaurants right next door. I really can’t fault anything and can’t recommend this hotel more :)
The hotel is an extraordinary place! The staff is welcoming, helping and always knows what you might want; all this without interfering with your privacy. The rooms are clean, comfy, with an amazing view. it’s a luxury place in which we nontheless felt close to Sri Lanka. the furniture is modern, but picks up the local look. two great surfing spots are within walking distance. we stayed 3 nights and loved it!
Excellent location as the hotel is located right on the beach that caters bother for surfers as well as snorkelers providing you are a good swimmer. The white sand beach is also good for walking.
The swimming pool is large enough to relax and swim providing the hotel is not too busy.
Staff, just like most Sri Lankan hotels, are very helpful and are always happy to help.
Kabalana hotel was clean, spacious and quiet - just off the main road in a jungle oasis but within walking/scooter distance to Kabalana Beach and the nearest towns. The staff were lovely and very attentive and let us check out of our room late. We loved our stay here and would definitely recommend if you’re looking for somewhere quiet and calm but not too far from town.
It is in a fantastic location with all rooms having excellent sea views and great view of the sunset. The garden is great to sunbath with a private beach in front. The staff are all really friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast & other meals really good. The rooms are big and the bed is very comfortable. I will definitely return to this lovely hotel.
I stayed here for 10 days and absolutely loved it. It's in the jungle but close enough to the beach. Very quiet space, has everything, including hot water which is sometimes a rare find in Sri Lanka. Wifi works and is pretty fast. You also have laundry option for additional fee of 400 rupees (under 2 euros). So overall, very happy and would come again!
Really impressive aesthetically, hotel is designed and built to a very high standard, both the rooms and the lobby/pool area. Located a short walk from beaches but away from the noise. Beds were very comfortable, huge bathroom with great facilities. We stayed during the opening of the dinner kitchen and the food was exceptional.
This was one of our best stays in Sri Lanka - the house is beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and Denis and Jazz were super friendly and helpful hosts. The location is perfect, very close to many nice surf breaks and restaurants in Ahangama. We would love to come back one day and stay with them again.
They have the best pool table! This hostel is one of the only ones in Sri Lanka with a local owning the place! He’s such a kind soul with a great sense of humour! They do beach cleanups here and fun pool tournaments with the locals! The location is great for surfing! So many breaks nearby!
Beautiful hotel accross a picturesque beach. The rooms are spacious and so comfortable. The staff are super lovely and attentive. The food is beyond delicious. Was able to try traditional Sri Lankan cuisine. Overall the best hotel in Sri Lanka. Totally recommended. I would rate it 20/10.

Super friendly family, loved staying in a neighborhood off the main tourist drag in Ahangama. The room was very comfortable even without ac. The fan and windows allowed plenty of cooling. The guest kitchen is great to have (tho I didn’t have time to use it).

Breakfast was one of the highlights of our entire Sri Lanka trip. So delicious, always on time and the variety / options were perfect. The room was clean and the property was relatively bug-free. Super close to good coffee places and surf spots.
