The rocky pathway and walking next to the beach was fantastic. There are many monuments to visit and explore, some inside parks. Unfortunately the Museum was not open on Saturday, 23/02/2024. This was very disappointing since that was one of the reasons I travelled out there. I was also surprised that it was closed since the day before was a national holiday and in most countries people usually make a touring weekend out of national holidays. I also was not the only person who arrived at the museum to find it closed.
I would not recommend going to the kinoplex mall unless you're going with people who want to ice skate or buy souvenirs at the entrance of the mall. Only one of the shops I visited did not try to overcharge me for my purchase.
Other than that I would also highly recommend going on a 'safari' to the 'alien landscape' called Byzherek (not sure I spelled that correctly). The tour group was a massive amount of fun and the tour guide tried his best to explain the history to me in English. I also met many fantastic local people who were on the tour. The tour company is "mangystau_safari" on Instagram and you can message them on whatsapp. They reply in English.

Aktau is a beautiful city, however because there are so many tourists, the service is extremely poor, from the high-end hotels to high-end restaurants. You will wait, and wait and wait. We often waited two hours for basic food. We waited a long time to check in. Very few people speak English. The service is really poor.

You definitely need to get out and about in Aktau. There are so many beautiful and strange places to visit. The valley of the balls, bozhira, the bay etc.... As An astrophotographer, I've never seen clear night skies quite like it. Best views of the milky way I've ever seen (and i live on a mountain!). Swimming on the beach was lovely, calm and warm without issues. Random camels walking around just complete the experience. We did a few days overlanding and then a few days at the Rixos for some well deserved all-inclusive luxury. Didn't spend much time in "town" we weren't there for that.

Our favorite place in the vicinity of Dostar Hostel are the umbrellas on the ebachfront. The only restaurant that time was CHESTER, just inside the vicinity of Dostar Hostel, we ate there 3 times, the food was good but a little expensive. If you have a taxi app yes it is easy to get around Aktau and if you also know a bit of their language.
I had a fascinating stay at this hotel in Aktau! I stayed with my grandmother, mother and niece. The location is perfect, making it easy to explore the surroundings, especially for elder people. The room was spotless, with new and shiny furniture in a modern style that added an extra touch of comfort. The breakfast offerings were delicious and varied, providing a great start to each day. What truly stood out was the staff's exceptional service; they were attentive and made our visit even more enjoyable.
Super new hotel. All rooms are modern and well equipped and look fine. Big and spacious bathrooms with large shower. One of the few hotels in Kazakhstan that we stayed at, that provides free bottled water.
The staff is just lovely, was always friendly and made an effort to help us. Definitely the best hotel staff we met in Kazakhstan.
The location is great, not far from good restaurants and places to see.
There is also a nice cafe downstairs where you can get breakfast.
The room and hotel were very well maintained and clean. It was a very impressivley large room for the price. We had a room in the back of the hotel so it was very quiet and easy to sleep. The women at the reception could not do enough to help us. They did not speak English but we did just fine with Google Translate. You got the sense it was a very well run hotel.
Generally the hotel is good lso in place and also in price. The staff was good, but I have claims to restaurant and ceaner staff. The service in restaurant was good but it's worked very slow. Cup of coffee you could wait for a half of hour. The cleaning of room was good, but they began to work so late, even in the evening.
Very comfortable hotel in a good location. Our flight arrived at 2am and the hotel arranged a transfer and check in which was brilliant to have at that late hour. Our room was very spacious and warm and the bed was comfortable. I would stay here again when visiting Aktau.
The host is adorable, she responds very fast on messages and communicates very clearly. The apartment was everything we needed, has a good location with a nice view on the sea. Clean and comfortable! We would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Aktau.

Stayed at the Renaissance in Aktau before, good hotel in the centre of Aktau, staff very friendly and helpful during check-in, only stayed in the hotel for about 10 hours as we had an early flight to Atyrau the next morning, would stay again no problem

The hotel itself require some renovation, however the room and bathroom was very clean. Personnel helped to order a taxi and print some papers. For this price it's worth it
