It is really close to the JR station and it was very convenient. The bed is positiened so you have a look out the window while you are laying down and that was wonderful.

We liked the room it was quite spacious. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was an easy bus ride from the main station and there were many restaurants nearby. The breakfast offered a lot options both Japanese and Western. The staff were very helpful finding some bus information and lending us umbrellas and adaptors.

Visited Nasu animal park, Waterfall and Nikko Toshogu shrine in Nikko by car with my family and these were outstanding,
In Utsunomiya there were plenty of good places near my hotel to eat with my family including grandchildren

I highly recommend trying some unusual gyoza.
I highly recommend trying some unusual gyoza. Also get out to Ohya! The museum, the cafes, Tagefudousan... It is better to have a car to get to the beautiful spots on the outskirts of town like onsens.

Very easy to get around downtown (west side of station).
Very easy to get around downtown (west side of station). Almost every bus goes up and down the main street. It is a good base to make trips to Ashikaga Flower Park, Nasu, Nikko, Ohya and less than an hour by fast train to Tokyo. I like the view of the mountains from Utsunomiya. On a clear day, the top floor of the Prefecture Building (kencho) has a great view.

I went to meet friends, not for sightseeing. It is famous for gyoza (Chinese dumplings), which are delicious, but if you are in Japan/the Tochigi area you could easily give Utsunomiya a miss! Nothing wrong with it at all, it's just a normal small town!

It's a calm city but if you are looking for world of heritage location i recommend Nikko there is a great location you must go to look, such as Toshogu World Heritage Kegon Waterfall, etc. and also Ashikaga Flower Park at Ashikaga.
Very nice hotel right across the street from the train station. The staff were very nice. This hotel has a large lobby with a macdonalds just out front (for our morning macmuffins and coffee). It was a clean and nice room and a little larger than similar hotels we stayed in. TV, kettle, internet, bidet toilet, nice shower, and comfortable bed all at a reasonable price. Easy walk to the downtown area and shopping streets. We enjoyed our stay.
We so enjoyed staying at this hotel.The staff were kind, and friendly. The hotel is not very big, but very modern. Very very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. We did not want to get out of them in the morning.
The one thing that I thought interesting was that there was no bathtub. The shower though was wonderful!
We definitely plan on returning to this hotel again!
Not to say very traditional but it is definitely a rare opportunity to get to stay in a Japanese house and experience how normal Japanese live in their daily lives. The place is really clean and comfy. Most importantly , the owner is very friendly and approachable , being very helpful and kind ! He shares a lot of travel tips and recommended spots that only the local will know.
Perfectly located in front of Sendai Station, making it incredibly convenient. I stayed here for a one-day trip to Nikko and highly recommend it. Clean, quiet, comfortable, helpful staff, and they stored my luggage pre-check-in. Room had all the amenities I needed. Highly recommended!
The location was brilliant as the hotel is connected to JR Utsunomiya. It is also connected to a shopping center with various shops, restaurants, and a supermarket on the first floor. The public bath was big and the areas around were super clean.
Location was perfect. After arriving on one train, we were able to drop our luggage at the hotel and return to the station in time for another train 16 minutes later. The room was snug, but clean and comfortable.
Good location, connecting to the station, with car park next to it, and supermarket downstairs, everything very convenience. Children was very happy because they can see the trains through the windows.
Staff were really friendly and always greets us when we walk in/out. Hotel provided everything we need for the stay. Room is certainly bigger than your usual japan hotels.
