The situation of the hotel is perfect, next to Shijo station and Kawaramachi Station so near Kyoto station and the trains for Osaka, Kobe, Nara, …
The staff is very friendly and speaks english. The room was small as expected but everything is very well organized and enough for 2 people with 2 luggages. It was clean, there are a lot of amenities on the lobby. The free coffee of the machine in the lobby was very tasty.
The hotel has a good vibe, the sake degustation is a good idea. I didn’t taste the breakfast but it seems complete. There are a lot of options for bars and restaurants in the area.

Kyoto is by far my favorite city I've visited. I've documented my travels throughout Kyoto, including day trips, on Instagram @j.choi.travels. What I love about Kyoto is its blend of history, scenic beauty, and nature. It's a city that everyone can find enjoyable.

Loved Kyoto, so much more relaxing than Tokyo and the transportation around the city and beyond was so easy. Loved the older population assisting at bus stops, shops and information. The world could take a leaf out of Kyoto's book. :)

Of all the cities in Japan, Kyoto is a family favourite.
Of all the cities in Japan, Kyoto is a family favourite. Much more human-scale and easy to navigate than Tokyo, it also has so much culture and historical content as well as its modern side and shopping that it has something for everyone. Picking highlights is almost a foolish venture as it is just incredible - the city contains 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites which is more than all but a few countries. That says it all really.

Kyoto was our favourite city in Japan.
Kyoto was our favourite city in Japan. It has many beautiful temples, shrines and gardens to visit and enjoy. It has many delicious gluten-free restaurants and bakeries. Transit is easy. Gion can get busy in the day when the tour buses arrive, but then its quieter at night.

1. The luxurious toilets. Better than most 5 star hotels.
2. The excellent location. One minute walk to sanjo Station which is along keihan line which will bring you to most famous sights in kyoto.
3. Close to car rental shop. Do a day trip out with driving. Taxis are everywhere as well.
4. Excellent location again. Walk to gion, nishiki, kamo river, pontocho, ninenzaka, kiyumizudera, shopping area at kawarachi.
5. Huge beds and room. Our room accommodated 2 adults and 2 kids for 4 nights comfortably. Rooms are quiet and clean.
The rooms are very good, everything was clean and towels changed everyday. Breakfast was great and to mention the free sake on the bar - amazing! The best is the staff. Awesome people with great manager. We stayed at the bar talking to the staff for ours drinking cocktails and sake. Most amazing hotel staff I ever talk to in my life. The location is also great with bus stops and subway station nearby. Kyoto tower is 10 min. away walking.
I strongly recommend Imu hotel in Kyoto! Thanks guys, I hope we will be back there soon!
The location is great - right in the Gion and surrounded by little restaurants, winding narrow lanes of traditional houses, and close to many good temples. Some of the best restaurants are nearby - must book months ahead, however. Hotel was very cool and contemporary, and a great value. Room was very small, so if you have tons of luggage, maybe not for you. The public bath was a beautiful, and well-designed smaller version, with very modern surfaces and lighting. Well worth visiting.
The room was very comfortable. The hotel itself is very well located really close to the train station (only a 5 minute walk). The facilities were amazing and it was so nice to be able to come back to the hotel after walking around Kyoto and use the onsen even late at night. The hotel offers free ice-cream, coffees, and even ramen. If you're staying, make sure to book the breakfast. It's probably the best hotel breakfast I've ever eaten, and has so much choice
The hotel is relatively small and quiet, very clean, new and pleasant ambiance. Bed was comfortable. Location was perfect; next to metro station, within walking distance from some tourist objectives, as well as restaurants. Has a coffee & tea station station at reception. Also provides all basic needs (slippers, PJ, tea, water, etc.) in the room. Stuff is polite & helpful. Best price for the value (I stayed in 6 hotels during 3 weeks Japan trip).
This was a clean, modern hotel in an ideal location (for us) in Kyoto. The room was exceptionally comfortable and well-appointed, and the hotel was walking distance to metro and train stations and bus stops, Gion, and downtown Kyoto restaurants and shopping. One of the top two hotels we stayed at in Japan, and probably the best value for money. The free evening reception (wine/beer and snacks) was a nice element as well. Staff was very helpful.
Such a cool arty hotel without being painfully hipsterish (🙄) great location one stop south of Kyoto station but walkable without too much luggage. Staff were friendly and breakfast was absolutely FANTASTIC the best I had in Japan. Quiet and understated with laid back vibe cool longer and bar. A few eateries nearby and and a supermarket (15 mins) but 7/11 and Lawson nearer. Would definitely stay again and thoroughly recommend
Good location - walking distance to the centre, the bus to/from the train station stops in front of the hotel, reasonably close to the metro line, close to bus stops to other parts of town. Several shops nearby (including a bit larger Life). Washing machine and a drying rack, but the best option is the hot-air drying in the shower room.
Great hostel! I slept in the dormitory and it was comfortable. Generally nice and well kept facilities. Staff was super helpful with luggage forwarding to my next hotel. Location is good for those coming in and out of Tokyo station. It’s located super close to Kyoto Cycle, which was the BEST cycle tour ever!! Highly recommend both.
This hotel is the best hotel I ever stay in Japan so far. Lobby is exclusive, Room is spacious with many kind amenities including for kids and not to mention of location right in front of Kyoto station and next to Yodobashi camera where you can find a lot of things there. Definitely this is worth to stay and spend money.
The owner of the hotel is very friendly and gave us the best local tips for food. From the hotel you can walk to gion district, nishiki market and ponchoto alley which is really nice! The room is very small but for us it was oke. It's very clean and quiet, which was really nice. Bathrooms and toilets are clean!
Super clean hotel and located at a subway station so its easy to travel. There is also a shuttle to kyoto train station which was usful for us at checkout. Good breakfast buffet also. Big thank you on the concierge servuce for restaurant recommandations and reservations, we had the best spots recommended.
Decent hotel within a 10 minute walk of Kyoto station. The hotel was pleasant, the room was adequately sized and serviceable, cheap meals available in the lobby. Probably the best part was the free self serve all you can drink happy hour each evening and unlimited tea and coffee. Happy travellers :)
The space of the room was the biggest of all the hotels we stayed at in Japan. We loved the proximity to the train station, since we used Kyoto as a base so we could travel fast from it to the surrounding cities. The staff was nice, and it was always clean. Best decision we made in our trip.
Hands down! One of the best hotels I've ever been, staff are super nice and helpful, very clean, location about 7 minutes walk from Nijo station, very minimalist decor and you can even do laundry (300 ¥ washing m. 100 ¥ drying machine for 30 minutes)
Great hotel about 10 minutes walk to JR station. It's on the south side of the Kyoto JR station. The room was bigger than what we expected and the bathroom design was the best we had seen so far on our Japan trip.
The best location and convenient to travel around Kyoto and not to be crowed as the hotel at Kyoto station.I love this hotel. 7-11 is very close to the hotel.
There are ice maker and microwave service as well.
This is the best hotel I have ever been to. Everything was super clean, new and it really felt like home. It’s also close to Gion and the maiko and geiko streets. I can’t recommend this hotel enough.
