I stayed at Mikiwa about 30 mins on local train from kanazawa. Very small town. I stayed in June and it was hot. The beach is interesting because there is a lot of sea trash washed up - fascinating really. There is a family mart and a mini supermarket in town. Probably more but I wasn't up for exploring because unfortunately I was unwell during my stay and couldn't do much but walk on the beach. Had I been well I might have gone into kanazawa to look around. The room I had was very comfortable and I was able to rest and recuperate. I think had I been well my stay might have been a bit long, but if you are looking for respite from the bustling cities in Japan it might just be the place for a break.

Kanazawa is a city that beautifully combines its rich history with modern charm. Our highlights included exploring the traditional samurai district and the charming Higashi Chayamachi district. As the kanji of Kanazawa, we also tried in local specialties like gold leaf-covered ice cream.

Kanazawa is great if you are into arts and crafts and want...

Kanazawa is great if you are into arts and crafts and want to buy hand crafted souvenirs. Another reason to visit is to drink sake as the city has really old distilleries. The city has a Jazz scene, I was able to visit one Jazz bar where they played records, it was excellent. It also has several amazing gardens, including one of three most amazing gardens in Japan called Kenroku-en. It apparently manages to achieve all 6 important garden principles in a single garden which is said to be extremely hard. City is walkable and have a large bus network. Another reason is that you can do day trips to Shirakawa-go and Takayama, there are many tours and they are well worth doing. Shirakawa-go is simply amazing. Finally, the Shinkansen line going to Tokyo has beautiful views.

The Castle grounds, museum of modern art, night lit botanical garden and the acquarium are excellent, and my kids also had a good time climbing the various rock formations/ sitting on a boatride to see the sea caves, and soaking in the sakura. (the latter 3 activities require a drive out of Kanazawa itself) Make sure to visit the Aquarium! Family friendly, well curated, and very reasonably priced. Be sure to eat at the seafood market - the sea urchin and unagi on offer will speak for itself

A run of the mill hotel with slightly bigger rooms from a Japanese perspective. Location was excellent in terms of public transport ,the main train station, upon leaving main exit the hotel building could be seen with its signage up high on the hotel building line. Also located in walking distance to/from Kanazawa tourist attractions, market, castle, castle gardens etc. No need to buy tickets for the tourist Loop bus that is advertised in tourist info centre. Beds were good but not great from a comfort point of view.

Luxury. That word really describes this hotel, from the large beautiful lobby area, to the hotel's Tsukibae Craft Shop selling exquisite and unique art made by local artists, to the glorious huge perfectly designed and decorated room. And the view from our room was fantastic...from high on the 18th floor we looked out at the city lights and looked down over the wonderful architecturally amazing Kanazawa Train Station (no worries about train noise either). We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kanazawa.

Easily one of the best hotel of my trip. Price-Value was exceptional. The room has everything, even a foot massager which I only found out before I checkout... which could be have better if I knew about it. But overall it was very good room with ample space and little things, feels new, clean, modern, love the coffee in the lobby and free welcome drink (sake). Location is also pretty good. Walkable from train station and very very near to market. Overall Kanazawa is walkable. Highly recommended!

Absolutely magnificent !! 11/10 !! Beautiful accommodation, clean, the best amenities we have had in Japan (open air Onsen on top floor, as well as indoor; sauna; free bikes; balcony on top floor for relaxation and a cute indoor space also). Amazing cafe where the meals are around 1500 yen - they are delicious and come with a drink of your choice and salad. Very generously sized meals - really great food ! Best value hotel in Kanazawa !! We encountered great customer service throughout Japan, but the staff at this hotel were probably the friendliest. Room layout (including two sets of bunk beds) maximized space efficiency well. On site laundry work well (both washers and dryers). Little bit of a walk from the train station, but fabulous location for sightseeing in Kanazawa. Nice industrial chic decor. I would definitely stay here again if I returned to Kanazawa.

This is one of the best hotels we've stayed at in Japan. Firstly the location is great, within walking distance of Kanazawa Stn, the castle ruins and of course the fish market. The buses came so frequently too. The room itself was so comfy, clean and a little bigger than most Japanese rooms. The walls felt quite thick so we weren't worried about being too loud for our neighbours. Great amenities and free coffee in the lobby.
