Offered an upgrade and took it - the room we were given was amazing and well worth the extra ¥11,000 for the view alone.
The view of Himeji Castle was great as we were above the other buildings.
Visiting the castle was the primary reason for the trip and so to get this offered to us was a real bonus.

We booked this hotel to be close to the train station as we were only staying for 1 night. It was very handy location and ok for the price. The room was clean but everything looks a little tired.

super nice to spend a day and a night, or even just a day.
super nice to spend a day and a night, or even just a day. I was doubting whether to stop or not on my way to Hiroshima, at the end we booked one night and it was a great decision. I wouldn't have stayed longer.

Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit.
Himeji has always been a favourite place to visit. This is my 3rd or 4th visit. In cherry blossom season, it is nothing short of spectacular. In winter, it's not so green, but the gardens are still worth seeing and wandering through. The castle itself is worth every cent of the entry fee and one could easily spend 2 or more hours exploring all the nooks and crannies before even reaching the 6 floor castle. Climbing to the top is must, but remember you will need to take off your shoes (and the stairs are more like wide rung ladders, so hold onto the rails!
The eateries are also worthwhile visiting, with plenty of choice in the area between the station and the castle. We visited a Vietnamese restaurant at lunchtime - it was huge and totally empty apart from us, and the food was fabulous - we chose banh mi which was just as good as in its' home country.

Loved arriving on the train and as we exited the station in the evening all the Christmas lights on the wide Avenue running straight from station to the lit up Himeji Castle in the distance..just stunning. The castle is amazing and a beautiful garden alongside it. Lovely to stroll around.

Himeji castle is a must see. Extremely interesting and along with the associated park is a good 3 hour adventure. Free English speaking guides at the entrance will accompany you. Well sign posted with many displays along the route through the castle in English.

I have been here so many times.
I have been here so many times. The castle, Himeji Central Park, the aquarium.... there are so many wonderful places to visit, and at the same time, it is full of terrific shops and restaurants. I don't think there is anybody who would NOT have a good time in this pleasant little city.

The castle exceeded our expectations.
The castle exceeded our expectations. You can access the entire castle and grounds and it is more beautiful than any photo I'd seen of it. Also, the multitude of alleyways and shops is lovely, safe and fun
The room had a great setup. They had the smart TV directly at the foot of the bed. You can browse Japanese TV stations or just play something off YouTube. It was a cozy room that was just right in every way.
It's conveniently located near one of the numerous shōtengai (local market streets) in the area and just a 10-minute walk from Himeji Castle and Kokoen (flower garden next to the castle). It's perfect for exploring the area or even if you plan on touring the nearby prefectures with a JR Pass.
Mar 30-Apr 1. Hotel is just next to train station. Exit is the other side from Himeji Castle.
Room was clean and comfortable although we found the bed a bit small. (We are mid sized Asians). Reception is on second floor.
Walk to the other station exit and the buses to Himeji attractions are just there. There is a tourist info centre at the train station.
Lots of eateries near train station and along the walk to Himeji Castle.
The double bed was the size of an ocean and very comfortable. The view from the breakfast room was stunning. The buffet offered plenty of choice. The location next to the station was perfect and the castle and its wonderful garden was ten minutes' walk away. We were sad we stayed for only one night as Himeji has lots of other attractions.
Views of Himeji castle were really nice. A short bus and short walk from the station. Seriously good value for money. A huge room and huge bathroom, much much larger than anything else we’ve stayed in Japan. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The free breakfast was great.
Location is great: not too far from Himeji Station, but distant enough to avoid crowds and noise. Parking is free and has good infrastructure. The public bath (onsen) is pretty good and well taken care of. Overall quite a good hotel if you’re traveling to Himeji on a budget!
The host went out of her way to let me drop off my bag before check-in time. Even gave me a little snack after checking in. Probably the best welcome I had so far travelling around Japan. The distance from the station and Himeji Castle was perfect too.
This hotel well situated minutes from the train station, and thereby not far from Himeji castle. They also gave my young children little bags with house slippers and toothbrushes their size, which was an extra added touch we greatly appreciated!
This is a stylish place, just along the big street that basically IS Himeji - from the station it's in the opposite direction from the castle, but not far. The rooms are fairly standard for Japan, i.e. very good but small. Staff were helpful.
Amazing value for money - really comfortable and clean room which was extremely close to the Himeji Castle and easily accessible from the station, including a really nice outdoor viewing deck where you had a clear view over the whole city.
Location was great, very convenitnet to the train station and not far from Himeji Castle and Gardens and the Museum of Literature. Breakfast was terrific. Onsen was lovely and I liked the inclusion of the cold pool.
A comfortable and convenient place for sleeping before heading to sightseeing spots, such as Himeji castle. It was also more well-equipped than I expected. I would choose OYO if I return to Himeji
Good location right next to the train station, easy access to local shopping street and to the main road leading to Himeji Castle. Nice bathroom/shower. Friendly staff, and clean.
location was within blocks of the train station and a covered shopping street leading to the Castle. The hotel had loaner umbrellas for the rain. Breakfast was good.
Fabulous breakfast, especially with a view over Himeji to the castle and hills. Excellent location next to the station. Room a little smaller than expected.
