Totally different vibes from Tokyo, osaka and kyoto.
Totally different vibes from Tokyo, osaka and kyoto. More green. It definitely worth the visit. Highly recommended to self drive to be able to see so much more.(google map) Less crowded than other major cities in Japan. Less English speaking staff though.

Our first trip to Japan we arrived via JR Beatle ferries so it was very convenient for an onward bus trip to Nagasaki. There is a good metro system and lots to see and do but it’s not too touristy there is an amazing roof garden on the top of Hakata station which is a perfect oasis to sit if you have a long wait and where there are views all over the city!

Great place for delicious Japanese food and shopping.
Great place for delicious Japanese food and shopping. It was easy to get around with the trains, shinkansen and buses as well. I felt it wasn't as touristy as Tokyo and Osaka and the city just had a nice vibe to it. I really enjoyed my stay there.

Fukuoka is a very nice place to visit.
Fukuoka is a very nice place to visit. We came end May and the weather was fine, around 20 - 24 C, cooler at night. The passenger transportation system is excellent, using IC card which can be stored in your mobile phone. Every where was clean, the locals were friendly, courteous and disciplined, where the pedestrian is always given priority. Although the city has its attractions of old (shrines, temples, etc) and new, the other cities in Kyushu island like Kumamoto, Beppu and Yufuin also have their unique attractions and food. Japan Rail pass is a convenient and economic way to travel by train to these and other destinations. Also try to take the short ferry rides to nearby islands / parks. We used equal amounts of cash and credit card payment. Will return for more in future

Fukuoka has a lot to offer and we only scratch the surface visiting for a few days. It's a much more laid-back city compared to Tokyo and Osaka. The city is clean but not as clean as Tokyo and other Japanese cities. Hakata Canal City was a bit of a disappointment, way too expensive and not much different than other shopping malls. I would go back to Fukuoka because it's a great place to start and end traveling the Kyushu area, such as Nagasaki, and Kumamoto, and a quick trip over to Busan, S Korea.

Fukuoka, located on Japan's Kyushu Island, is a vibrant city...
Fukuoka, located on Japan's Kyushu Island, is a vibrant city blending tradition and modernity. It offers a rich cultural experience. The city's highlights include the ancient Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine and the modern Fukuoka Tower. Food enthusiasts will delight in its renowned Hakata ramen and yatai street food stalls. Fukuoka's waterfront, with parks and shopping complexes like Canal City, provides a scenic retreat. The efficient public transport makes exploring easy. With its balance of historical sites and contemporary attractions, Fukuoka is a must-visit for travelers seeking a comprehensive Japanese experience.
The room I stayed in had a lovely view of the city, and the hotel was situated conveniently close to Hakata Train Station. The room itself has a nice deep bathtub which was lovely to soak in after a long day of sightseeing and shopping, especially if you use the complimentary bath salts and oils located in the hotel foyer.
The breakfast is also very filling and delicious. You can pick from the local speciality, a boiled breakfast or Japanese spin on wester breakfasts, like an omelette etc. all in addition to the buffet breakfast.
Located across Hakata Train station and Bus Terminal, the hotel offers excellent access to explore the city and other key attractions in Kyushu. Level B1 is connected to Chikushi Exit 7 (East) of Hakata station offering sheltered pathway to Airport Line. Breakfast is served between a choice of Japanese or Western cuisines and delicious. Room is spacious and interior is new and clean.
Overall, Hotel Miyako Fukuoka offers a five-star stay with top-notch service, comfort, and amenities. Highly recommended!
Lovely hotel close to Hakata station. The room was perfect for a solo traveler. Amenities like tea bags, slippers, toothbrush/toothpaste are available on the second floor next to reception for free. The breakfast buffet was incredible - many Japanese and Western options. The bonus was the onsen downstairs, perfect at the end of the day. Would love to stay here again and would definitely recommend.
We hv connecting rooms, the room is spacious, clean and water heater work well, short walking distance to Hakata station and Tenjin area and about 15minutes walking distance to Hakata Canal City, the rooms came with 2 bottles drinking water this is very unusual during our stay in Fukuoka usually rooms do not provide drinking water. Nearby the hotel have Lawson, drugs stall and local supermarkets.
I find all APA hotels to be great value, no matter what city. It is a very quick walk to Hakata/ shinkansen and bus stations, many local food options too. Staff friendly and efficient.
All hotel rooms are small in Japan, and these are well laid out with luggage storage under the bed, hooks on the wall etc.
Just don't take too many bags/large suitacse and you should be fine.
Hotel bear Hakata station so it is easy to visit fukuoka. The room was clean but very small. I guess it explains the cheaper price. It didn't cause me any problem because I was staying one night but if you are staying more than one night and are more than one person it might be slightly uncomfortable. You can't open two suitcases at the same time.
I love everything about this hotel.
It is a timeless classic luxury that I would love to come back to when in Fukuoka.
Hotspring is natural which is a plus.
Dinner at the Japanese restaurant was over the top.
I was very much impress.
Staff were also very accommodating.
P.S.
I love their pajamas too and would love to get one when I’m back again.
Perfect location, very near to GION station and Canal City Hakata, with so many restaurant around, only took me 10 min to get to Tenjin shopping area, Staff was fantastic, room was spacious enough comparing to other chain hotels, will consider visit again next time in Fukuoka.
The hotel is centrally located next to the Hakata Station which is filled with many places to eat. The staff was very helpful, even though I could not speak to them in Japanese. It was an easy walk to the Folk Museum and the main temple of Fukuoka, which was nice.
The hotel has easy access to the subway to easily reach other parts of the city. It is close to the airport.
The room has full amenities even though it is quite small. This hotel would be more suitable for travelling business person of one.
Breakfast was not very good. The hotel is located across the street from the central train station in Fukuoka and is 2 subway stops from the airport. A very convenient location, very clean, the twin room is rather large.
Very cool hotel with clean, modern rooms. Breakfast was fantastic. Enjoyed the balcony. Great location in downtown Fukuoka, short walk to yatai food stalls, river, and downtown, and longer walk to the city park.
Everthing! The space was quite wide for our family - 2 adults and 2 toddlers. The hotel was near the station, maybe a 5 minute walk would do. The best thing is it is near the airport!
I do love the location, quite close to MRT and five minutes walk to CANAL CITY HAKATA, the other wonderful thing is there are 屋台 close to the hotel, it's so convenient.
Convenient walk to the domestic terminal at Fukuoka Airport, and excellent free shuttle service from the hotel back to the airport. Free morning breakfast.
