I was given a room located at a different hotel building than the one I booked. I have no issue with this, given that the room I got was bigger, and it was only a short walk away from the original listing I booked. The beds were very comfy and the room was spacious.

Jinya was so cosy and larger than expected. There was only 2 of us but they had 3 beds plus a pull out couch. It was a little Oasis after coming from hectic Tokyo. Wish we had stayed another night here.

The hotel lobby like a small art gallery, there are many paintings are hung not only in lobby but every corridors and rooms. Our room on the 5th level has a spectacular view of mountain and lake. The hotel has a big carpark at front, though the driveway to hotel is narrow but we had no problems in and out.

The hotel was well located along the lakeside, but the carpark was away from the front of the hotel. We had a slight difficulty with a fellow guest, who deliberately blocked the last remaining carpark lot, by refusing to let us park our car. He stood in front of the lot, daring us to knock him down. Hence, this experience left a bitter taste of an otherwise acceptable experience in Kawaguchi.

We had never been to Japan before and if you type into your computer "which is the most popular destination in Japan", it will tell you Mt Fuji, so we decided to go. So did 10 million other tourists!!!! It was a busy place especially around the bus/train station.
You have to visit the mountain, but watch the weather otherwise it could be a wasted trip as we found when we reached the 3,000 m mark on the bus with rain and thick cloud cover so no amazing views. Avoid the tourist shops as they are a "rip off" price wise, and once again expect lots and lots of tourists.
The place we stayed was the cheapest non dorm accommodation we could find in the area and it was good value for money with a great host, so would recommend staying there if you are on a tight budget. The room was small compared to European room sizes, but the private bathroom and toilet were great, although access to the room was difficult with large suitcases up a spiral staircase.
There is a shopping mall 10-15 minutes walk away with a selection of places to eat (Italian, Chinese, Japanese, burger joint) . The bus trip on the Red Line to the lake(s) area is a nice half day trip and cheap.
All in all, if you have never been before, GO, it's well worth it, and a direct bus service from/to both international airports.

We rented a car and drove from Tokyo to Yamanashi and for us it was perfect. We were able to see all 5 lakes in one day going from one to the other in succession.
The restaurants in the area offer a great variety of sushi, izakaya and bbq. There is also a great Omakase restaurant nearby the hotel called Fresh Water that offers a different experience to the usual tried and tested.
On the day of our departure back to Tokyo we decided to swing by Fuji Q Highland with low expectations - the theme park is legit with a great Naruto Village, high octane rollercoaster rides and from our own experience a great haunted house that lasts the majority of an hour to walk through.
Loved it. Would definitely revist the entire area.

Check the weather forecast before planning your trip to Kawaguchiko, as beside the view of Mt Fuji there's very little to do there, also restaurants are very rare and working hours is almost not existent, everything closes early or not open at all... so be mindful of the meals you should carry with you.

Beautiful, serene and scenic place.
Beautiful, serene and scenic place. Must spend at least 2 full days to explore the beauty of Mount Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko. The Red Line covers 20 tourist spots within Fujikawagichiko. The ride from 1st sto to last stop is only 27 minutes. The bus comes every 15 to 30 minutes at the designated stops. The Green Line covers further destinations. The ride can be 40 minutes to the spot.

They had an English speaking staff member during the day so that was nice. The views of Lake Kawaguchiko were phenomenal! The rooms were very spacious and bathrooms seemed updated in the room. We didn't pay for dinner, but the breakfast was delicious! Definitely seemed worth paying the price listed for a one night stay.
This place is so convenient to the ropeway and the shuttle van will pick you up and take you back to Kawaguchiko station, which was very nice. I used my wifi calling to call the hotel from the station to pick us up.
- Location was really good, there were convenience stores located a 2-3 min walk away and bus stops were near!
- Shuttle bus service was efficient, the bus was clean and the driver was really nice!
- Staff are extremely friendly and helpful ✨ thank you so much!
- The breakfast spread was amazing! We looked forward to it every morning haha.
- The bed was very comfortable :)
- Prices were very affordable!!
- Our stay was honestly so worth it considering the comfortable room, free shuttle service and hotel breakfast.
This is our second time staying here and I will definitely stay here again and again. This ryokan is vegan-friendly, they prepared a vegan meal for me and my mom with food restrictions, although we informed about our preferences pretty late. They also have rental private bath. On the rooftop you can enjoy amazing view of Mt.Fuji from one side and lake and mountain view from another side. The service in this hotel is outstanding. The best ryokan we've stayed in Japan so far.
Location on the Red Line bus was convenient and hotel provided shuttle service to and from Kawaguchiko Station. View from balcony room was gorgeous, especially once Mt Fuji decided to show itself! Staff very accommodating and helpful. Food was prepared by local woman who clearly showed pride in her preparations. Cuisine was entirely Japanese and delicious. Hotel is older but well kept and comfortable. Nice onsen baths available.
Amazing traditional hotel (roykan). Loved the japanese style room (bathroom looked recently renovated) overlloking the beautiful Kawaguchiko lake. Staff was friendly and helpful, they have free shuttle to the station (which is 15mins walking otherwise). Breakfast was very rich and tasty in a dining hall with a beautifull view. There was also a bar/game room with pool, fussball and other games for free.
A slightly dated hotel, but the unique atmosphere, very friendly staff and great breakfast (including local hoto noodles) make up for it. There is a nice sento style common bath at the top (!) floor from where you can see mount Fuji. I can recommend staying in a Japanese style room, which was spacious and a windows to the nearby lake Kawaguchi as well as mount Fuji.
the hotel room a bit old (Ryokan with Fuji mountain View) but facilities in room are very complete, the staff at receptions are very warm welcome and helpful, also the hotel have shuttle bus service to kawaguchiko station and you can reserve PRIVATE ONSEN for 50min with 3xxx yen this quite reasonable price. So overall everything was perfect.
The best thing about this hotel is that it is just opposite the Kawaguchiko station which makes things easier if you are travelling around Yamanashi a lot. Nearby, there is the famous Lawson. On top of that, the view of Mount Fuji from my room was breathtaking, I wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
The owner was really nice and friendly. We love the style of the hotel, it is Japan-Western style. The location is far from the train station, but we have no issue because we came by car, and it turned to be really nice and quiet to stay.
The room comes with a good size twin bed and good bathroom.
The staff was very helpful, as one would expect in Japan, but the level of their English was quite exceptional! If you struggle with speaking the local language, consider accommodation in this hotel/ryokan.
At dinner, they were very considerate towards our dietary limitations.
Great location, just in the main activity centre of Lake Kawaguchi. This is a small Japanese-style ryokan hotel and offers very personal and hospitable service, Both breakfast and (Kaiseki) dinner were good though not offering exquisite ingredients.
It was and excellent price for what it offer. Very well located. About 10 minutes in bus to Kawaguchiko station. They offer transportation from the hotel to the station for free. The breakfast was great and they have a western and oriental option.
Good location on the lake because buses aren’t so reliable so knew we could always walk back from kawaguchi town or train station. Fuji view hotel room was a great size with a beautiful view. Bus stop outside hotel and free shuttle into town
Downright best onsen hotel in Fujikawaguchiko. The Mt. Fuji view from the hotel room was absolutely gorgeous. The facilities were good, the hospitality was the best! The staff was friendly and nice. The breakfast was amazing.
This was a lovely quiet hotel near the lake and my room was huge! Had a lovely stay here and the owner was super friendly and helpful picking me up from the station and taking me back too. I really appreciated that so much.
The location near the lake, the onsen in the hotel, the traditional Japanese bedroom and the open air bath included in the bedroom. They provide you a kimono to wear in the hotel.
The location - just opposite stands Mt Fuji. We went on a perfect day and understood the value of a hotel with a good location. Just opposite Kawaguchiko station and bus stop too.
