FAQs about hotels in Taormina

The Jewel in the Sicilian Crown

As you admire crystal-clear turquoise seas from a Taormina piazza swathed in vibrant pink blossom, you could be forgiven for thinking that you were in paradise. The stunning location of this picturesque town is its crowning glory.

However, it’s not its only glory. Surrounded by trees just below the main town, the Greek Theatre is also a triumph. Its largely intact seating offers wonderful views across the stage towards Mount Etna fuming away in the distance. Spine-tingling summer performances are still held here, and several of the town’s bars also offer live music.

Corso Umberto I runs through the heart of Taormina, from Piazza Corvaja to the 13th-century cathedral, and houses many shops and cafés. Midway along is Piazza IX Aprile, whose clock tower and church are overlooked by a rocky hill topped with a castle.

A cable car runs from the town down to the beautiful Taormina beaches (where the train station is also found). At the centre of the W-shaped bay is little Isola Bella, an island nature reserve. To the south-west is the long stretch of sand at Giardini-Naxos, and north is the bay by Mazzaró.

As you would expect of Sicily’s most beautiful resort, there is no shortage of Taormina accommodation on Booking.com, including 5-star hotels on the beach, town centre apartments and luxury B&Bs.

Taormina is an undeniably beautiful town that captures the charm of Sicily with its stunning views and Greek History. One of the highlights of visiting Taormina is the views one of which is Mount Etna, which serves as a magnificent backdrop to the town. However, it is very pricey and touristy, which can detract from its authenticity and local feel. The town boasts an array of high-end shops and restaurants, catering to visitors seeking luxury and fine dining experiences. It's an excellent place to visit for a day trip, allowing you to soak in the sights, enjoy the upscale ambiance, and perhaps indulge in some shopping. The beaches below Taormina, while picturesque, are primarily reserved for guests staying at the beach resorts. The public areas on these beaches are relatively small and can get crowded and you can be bothered by street vendors, especially during peak tourist season. If you're planning to spend a day at the beach, staying at one of the resorts might offer a more comfortable and exclusive experience. In summary, Taormina is a delightful destination for a day trip, especially if you appreciate high-end shopping and dining, and want to enjoy a stunning view of Mount Etna. However, be prepared for the tourist crowds and limited public beach access.

It is super full of tourists. We were there in late May. During the day, the day trip groups come to the town and it becomes hard to walk on the streets or find a sport in a restaurant. The prices in the restaurants are high.

The whole town of Taormina was just Glorious!! The charm, Greek Roman archeological history in full display at the Amphitheater, spectacular views of Mount Etna, traditions, Sicilian food and cuisine, friendly people, shopping of Corso Umberto, and the stunning natural beauty, views, and beaches like that of Baia Isola Bella are not to be missed!! Taormina is a 'must see' destination and has so much to offer. We visited Savoca nearby whilst staying in Taormina which was a real treat. We also had an excellent dinner one night in Giardini Naxos and were serenaded by a folk group who made the night magical. We will definitely be returning.

A marvellous location and unique natural beauty have earned this city the nickname of Pearl of the Ionian Sea. The distinctive city of Taormina in eastern Sicily is perched on a rock above sea level, with awe-inspiring views over Mount Etna and the coastline. Like many other tourism hotspots, you have to plan carefully to avoid tourist traps and not get stuck in huge crowds.

Loved the location, lots to explore on foot with the Corso Umberto for shopping and eating, the Greek Theatre and the Botanical gardens for a quiet place to reflect and enjoy the views, and a play area for the children. The cable car is worth using to access the beaches which again are well serviced with food, drink and toilet facilities. Fabulous food, Mount Etna on your doorstep and great shopping.

Great location. The hotel is just near the sea. Stockholm Spisone beach is sandy and free to use. It was a joy to take our time in the beach just a stone throw away from the room. The cable car is 10 min away by walking. Isola Bella beach is 15 min away from the room. The bus station to visit Taormina centre is just in front of the hotel and very easy to access. There are private beaches and restaurants around. It was an amazing holiday and I would like to thank you Guiseppe, the amazing host.

It’s in a fabulous location, on the beach overlooking Isola Bella. The steps up to Taormina start right outside the hotel. Breakfast was excellent and although we didn’t have dinner at the hotel, there are plenty of very good restaurants nearby. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. We were very unlucky with the weather during our stay… very little sun and plenty of rain. not sure how common that is in early May but the hotel helped us make the best of it. Highly recommended.

I liked the homey feel of hotel Natalina, it is very cozy and the staff are amazing & very helpful. They were very kid friendly and even helped with minding the kids, the location was perfect as well and if you are traveling with kids or older members it is very helpful to have the lift. I didn't find many options with a lift around that location so this was a big plus for us. Also the room was spotless clean much cleaner than in some 5 star hotels i have seen.

I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in Taormina. The location is superb, but the entire staff is absolutely wonderful. As a family-owned hotel, you can feel the level of care in everything from how you're greeted every time you return to the breakfast room. I appreciated the suggestions for places to go in town, and the help in booking taxis to and from the airport. It's a beautiful place to rest and rejuvenate, and I'll be back.

The Location was the best thing about this hotel, directly overlooking Isola Bella, and an easy walk to the funicular railway to Taormina, beach and restaurants. The buses went right by in front of the hotel, and it was a short €15 taxi ride from the station. Breakfast on the Terrace was the second best thing, and the breakfast variety was excellent.
