Staff were professional, courteous and efficient. Breakfast was "to die for" - if I stayed there too long, I'd die from overeating the fine food! Location and proximity to the main interests in Ortigia was great.

A goldmine of Greek and Roman heritage, Siracusa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the Necropolis of Pantalica in hills to the north-west.
Siracusa itself has a necropolis within the amazing Neapolis archaeological park, which also houses Roman amphitheatre and altar remains, as well as one of the largest Greek theatres ever built. Legend has it that the site includes the tomb of Archimedes, who was born here.
The ancient Greeks founded the city (also known as Syracuse) and Cicero even considered it the greatest of all. Columns from that period were used to build the Baroque cathedral, and the Fountain of Arethusa dates to the same era. Both are within Ortygia, a walled peninsula jutting into the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. Also here are ruins of the Roman temple of Apollo, and at the tip of the peninsula is the 13th-century Maniace Castle.
The fabulous Siracusa Archaeological Museum houses relics from all these periods, and is located by the Catacombs of Saint John. Opposite them both is the modern conical spire of the Madonna delle Lacrime Sanctuary church.
Aside from all this history, Siracusa also has plenty of pavement cafes and restaurants, and lovely sandy beaches overlooked by luxury hotels, cheap B&Bs and holiday homes available on Booking.com.
The city is full of history. However, many of the historical buildings are very poorly maintained, moldy, and run-down. The management of the municipality has a lot of room for improvement.
Food in restaurants we visited was mediocre at best.
On the other hand, fresh produce found in the shops is first-rate.

Siracusa didn’t meet our expectations.
Siracusa didn’t meet our expectations. The area is in need of updating. Lots of run down buildings and so much rubbish dumped on roads and pavements. Empty plastic cartons and bottles everywhere. Restaurants were good. But the area is in need of a good clean up. Taxis were very expensive and charges were different daily

Interesting historical sites. However la tomba di Archimede,I was told, was closed.Nothing was said as to its possible viewabiluity from the outside.A lot of traffic at the piazza near the LOL hostel. One has a general impression that the city is not overly keen to impress visitors, though it could be worse...

There is two parts to Siracusa, Siracusa itself and Ortigia.
There is two parts to Siracusa, Siracusa itself and Ortigia. Both parts have culture and archeology to be amazed by. Ultimately Siracusa is the normal working part, whereas Ortigia is very picturesque from start to finish. Just give yourself time to wander around and drink it all in. Don't forget to do the boat trip around the island with a guide and a dive off the boat. Superb!

Siracusa was a last minute discussion for us and we were pleasantly surprised, would recommend it to others, lots of culture and bars, restaurants and narrow streets to explore. It come to life at night when the heat drops.
Maison Ortigia is located at a very good place, in the center of Ortigia. We loved our balcony where we always spent 2-3 hours a day, the room was super clean, the breakfast was great. Our favourite city beach was Spaggia Diana nel Fonte which is just 4 minutes walk from Maison Ortigia, beautiful clear water, with various fishes. Don't miss the opportunity to go to Flamingo Beach at Fontane Bianche, food is great, and the sea is fantastic, truly one of our best days we spent in Sicily. Big thank you to the friendly and helpful staff!
The host was exceptionally helpful. We were at the close of 3 weeks in Sicily and a bit tired. His aid with location a driver, finding restaurants and local spots of interest, and clarifying any questions we had about the room made our stay easy and fun as we explored Ortigia, a beautiful small island with some of the major historic sites in Siracusa. If you want the ambiance of a valued traveler being hosted in an authentic Siracusa home, this accommodation is for you!
Alberto is an amazing host one that you can only wish for in your dreams. He greeted us, showed us around in his charming B&B but moreover gave us invaluable recommendations about what to visit and where to eat in Ortigia. Thanks to him our stay in Syracuse/ Oritigia was one of the best city visits in all over Sicily with unforgettable memories. The room is wonderful and the breakfast served on the terrace is just simply awesome!
We had a lovely stay in this B&B. The hosts Sandra & Piero are people with a heart of gold that have one goal: make you feel comfortable and give you an unforgetable stay in Siracusa. The room was great, the view amazing and the breakfast fantastic! On top of that, the B&B is very well located at a 5 min walk to the historic city center of Ortigia. Definitely a place we will recommend to anybody going to Sicily & Siracusa!
Paola was welcoming us with a cooled bottle of water and the best tips on where to eat in Ortigia. The room we booked was great, shabby-chic with lots of trinkets, making it feel quite unique. Especially the shower had a very cool look and great water pressure. It also has a nice breakfast place and the probably Sicily's greatest granita shop right next door.
