Malcesine is just the best little town around the lake Garda according to my sister and me.
It's such a charming little town, the way it's situated on a slope makes all the little alleyways forever changing and so interesting, you just can't get tired of them. There's plenty of little squares either facing the waterfront or in the midst of the old town.
The castle on one side and the harbour on the other.
Loads of lovely shops with really quaint and useful products, perfect souvenirs.
Loads of restaurants and bars, all the ones we tried were superb.
Malcesine has super access to Limone and Riva by a breezy boattrip and you could even go to the southside of lake Garda although this takes you a little longer.

Regrettably, it rained for most of our three day stay in Malcesine and we were unable to hike on top of Mount Baldo as planned. That said,we were able to take a boat across to Limone for a day and our visit did not disappoint. There are also a number of very good restaurants in Malcesine one of which is the « Al Gondoliere » which we dined at twice.

Loved Malcesine, it is spotlessly clean, felt safe, spoiled for choice with lovely eateries, bars & shops.
Might not be suitable for anyone with mobility issues as although not too steep, it is hilly in parts.

loved the cable carts. loved the garda express to Limone.
loved the cable carts. loved the garda express to Limone. St Benedicts church in Limone is stunning.
The big ship was a massive disappointment as its nothing more than a party boat for young people. Nothing relaxing about it at all. No sails were opened and there was a DJ playing techno and very badly remixed house music. No escape.. Not worth 120 euro.

The place where time stood still - BUT - everything still worked like a Swiss watch.
Great dining options all around the village. Easy walking, typical Italian shops - a danger to your wallet if you are with your wife / girlfriend !!

Malcesine is a beautiful, historic town with lots of quirky streets and alleyways. There was a brilliant choice of bars, restaurants, gelato parlours and shops. A great place to sit, relax and people watch. The roads around Malcesine are extremely busy so I would recommend staying within walking distance of the town and not worry about a car. There are many boat trips available on the lake.

We have only good things to say about our stay at Casa Nicola. The apartment was clean, well furnished and comfortable. Lorena was a welcoming host offering lots of useful information about Malcesine. The apartment has safe private parking and it is a short 10 minute walk into the centre of town. Our apartment had a fantastic view of Lake Garda from both the living area and bedroom. A small balcony was a lovely place to catch the afternoon/evening sun.
We would definitely recommend Casa Nicola and Malcesine as a base to explore the lake.
The room had an amazing view looking over Lake Garda; it was just an overnight stay for us so didn't really explore other nearby towns. There is a small cafe at the bottom of the street that leads to the hotel which is open early enough to get a coffee and after that took an opportunity to walk along the lake nearby which was beautiful. The included breakfast we good, with many choices.
The breakfast at Hotel Oasi Beach was terrific, offering diverse fresh, local produce. But what truly stole the show was the breathtaking Lake Garda view. Sipping coffee while gazing at the serene lake was the epitome of relaxation.
The views from the hotel overlooking lake Garda are breathtaking, the breakfast was excellent, the staff really helpful, great location, would definitely recommend!
