Spanning 11 kilometres between the Adriatic Sea and one of the most famous lagoons in the world, Lido is a narrow and long island located just in front of Venice’s Old Town. Beach resorts, hotels and private villas replaced the vegetable gardens 160 years ago that provided tranquil settings for poets and writers like Lord Byron and Thomas Mann.
Probably one of the first beach resorts in the world, its first facility opened in 1857 and soon became a success. Nowadays, it constitutes a peaceful suburb that claims its golden past once a year during the Film Festival, and offers a quieter setting for your accommodation than central Venice.
There are actually three different villages on the island. Lido itself is located in the north, and includes most of the hotels and the Venice Casino. The smaller Malamocco and Alberoni are situated to the centre and south respectively. The sea-facing side of Lido Island is a succession of sandy beaches, mostly belonging to different resorts and hotels.
Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta is the island’s main street, leading from the ‘vaporetto’ water bus pier to the sea. There are buses running on the island, while direct waterbus links to Venice Marco Polo Airport are also available.

Lido is a great place to base yourself from if you want to visit Venice. It offers easy access to the city and the nearby islands (Murano, Burano, etc.), but it is relaxed and quiet compared to the overly-touristed Venice, so it's lovely to come back to Lido after a hectic day of tourist activities. We didn't take advantage of the beach, but we could have if we had built in more time.

Lido was recommended to me by a friend who goes every year.
Lido was recommended to me by a friend who goes every year. She'd stayed in lots of areas. Great choice ! The island was quieter, cleaner, cheaper and not so busy. It was lovely to walk around, trees, flora and fauna, churches , lots of shops and restaurants. Short stroll to a beautiful beach. Amazing sunsets, with all those views. Picture perfect. We used a three day vaporetta pass to get around. We were two stops away from main part of Venice, where we got off to explore. Four stops to San Marco, quick and easy. Longer trips to Murano, which was worth a visit...free to get into the glass factory on a Wednesday and the airport was a 45 minute ride, but easily done.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The space was quaint and perfectly located away from the crazy busy hub that is Venice. It was a 5 minute walk to the laundromat, where you could have a drink nearby at a bar while you waited. Another 5 minute walk and you were at the beach. Lots of eateries, shops, bars and way less people.

Very close to the buzzing city of Venice (only minutes by Vaporetto) but away from all the noise and crowded streets. Perfect place to relax in the evening. Very nice restaurants, B&Bs and even a beach where you can sunbath and swim. We used to stay in Venice but now we always stay here.

Feels like a typical Italian village, but it's only a ten minute boat ride to piazza San Marco. It's quiet, but elegant. The bars and restaurants I tried - on the main boulevard and along the canal - were excellent.
Its a great location. the waterbus terminal right out front gets you to anywhere in Venice and the lagoon - waterbus to and from the Airport - 10/15mins on the waterbus to St Marks Square. A lovely family run old style Italian Hotel. Very friendly staff. Comfortable rooms. Good bar/restaurant downstairs and lots of other bars and restaurants and shops minutes away. the beach is a 10 minute walk. We had a great time and we'll be back.
Very good location just opposite the ferry stop from Venice and at the start of the main shopping street with many restaurants and bars. Also not too far to walk to the private or public beaches. The southern beaches can easily be reached by bus also stopping opposite the hotel. The room was very modern, clean and the air condition was working wonders. Breakfast was good with a variety of food choices.
If you want to visit Venice then Lido is best to stay. Lido is a small Island just minutes away from Venice. It is peaceful and beautiful. Viktoria Palace hotel is on the best site of Lido. On the map it seems a little far from center and that is what we were thinking but in fact it is on best location. You can move around on foot, on bus or on bicycles. Beach is just some steps away.
the location is excellent. based on the lido you have stunning views of Venice. The hotel was a bargain in early May, and we weren’t expecting much. we used it as a base and even spent a couple of our days at the beach and looking at the shops as the island has a lovely buzz.
hotel wise. comfortable, welcoming. the staff were superb.
Great location, very friendly and helpful staff and gorgeous old hotel! we arrived very early from our train and they checked us in and had a room for us right away. The hotel is very clean and it’s in a great location to walk around and sightsee. Would recommend!
It is a monarchy-style hotel, not a modern, clean design, but it has a unique atmosphere. It was nice, clean, and close to the ferry and the beach. And there is a cheap supermarket in front of the building, where you can buy everything.
Hotel is located on the Lido, very peaceful and just a 15 minute walk to ferry. Ferrys to St Marks square are frequent and take 15-20 minutes
Hotel is opposite nice sandy beach and sea, ideal in the summer.. Staff were very pkeasant
We liked the location on the Lido, the comfortable room and the breakfasts. The hotel is situated on a quiet road but very near to the main shopping street and to the water bus landing stage. The room was tidied every morning.
Wonderful hotel. Great location. 10 minutes walk from the pier. Easy to get to from the airport and to San Marco. 10 minutes to the beach. Very polite and friendly staff. Very good breakfast. I recommend everything
Excellent breakfast, hotel staff very friendly and a lot good restaurant very close. Only be aware that this hotel is in Lido and you will need to take the boat to go to all the places in Venice, I love it
This is a real 5 star hotel. It’s beautiful with spacious rooms, delicious breakfast and with plenty of staff to serve you everywhere. It’s the perfect place to relax with family or as a couple
Location was excellent, just a short walk to the vaparetto and the beach. The hotel was clean and the staff were really friendly. They were helpful with directions and recommendations.
The location was great only just over 10 minute walk to the Water Bus and less than 5 minutes to a wonderful beach. Hotel despite its age was very clean and well maintained.
Personel was so, so nice... Location near beach and bus stops were also great and that was important for us.
