the location is great as it's near the airport, yet far from city Center , its was not value for money as the facility seemed old, beach is not something you would expect as nice one, yet good enough for quick swim given that water is affected from the port nearby

It`s too chaotic and dirty city. The beach is always too windy. The maximum stay in Catania has to be for 1 day and visit just central part of the city... don`t go too far away from the center in order not to be too disappointed..

Catania is a very interesting city and I took advantage of the way in which you can walk all around it easily, finding hidden gems, parks, churches and greco-roman antiquities. It is culturally fascinating especially as there is an active volcano on the island. Take the walking tours or bus tours and also get up to the seventh floor of the Hotel Etnea and watch the sunset over Etna while eating the signature dish Pasta Alla Norma a lively fusion of pasta, aubergine and ricotta. This is on many menus but the Hotel Etnea got it perfect. Mad in Italy provided the most perfect chicken salad with beer I have ever tasted. There isnt a sea front promenade but there are some beaches which I dont bother with as I prefer sightseeing. The city bus station offers cheap bus tickets all over the rest of Sicily and that is worth doing. I used the online app for the ticket purchase. The tour about where the lava covered part of the city in the mid 1600s is fascinating and well worth the 38 euros cost. Food is relatively inexpensive, wine is very good and the hospitality is warm and friendly. A perfect long weekend or mini break.

I stayed here for two nights and left early on the last day. I did not like Catania. I decided to travel to syracuse instead which was so much better and there is so much more for tourist.
The only good thing about Catania was being able to see Mount Etna, Especially from the beach too and leaving!

Catania is a good fun city and well worth visiting.
Catania is a good fun city and well worth visiting. Just a few words of warning though, there is a stall on the fish market in the shape of a boat selling cooked fish, be aware there are no prices and it is a total rip off. It's under the railway arches

We enjoyed exploring Catania on foot and had a walking tour of the city which showed us some of the main sights in the centre.
the city is very interesting and full of energy and the people we met were friendly and welcoming.
We enjoyed a variety of local dishes and the price of things was very reasonable.

Catania was the last day of a 2 week Sicily tour, and was a disappointment. There seemed to be no pride in the city at all, and very little history on show. Accepting that you can’t make style out of nothing, we wished we’d spent our last day elsewhere! Even yhe bus tour revealed little of visual interest.
The hotel was booked for an early flight out on Monday, and was very clean and tidy, with a balcony view of Etna. We would stay again if flying in to Etna, but be aware the 1.6m taxi ride was 30 euros.
we landed at catania and our flight was very late at night (passed midnight) it was wonderful to have a location in catania with easy self checking. the host was very nice and accommodating and very responsive. the appartement was in the center and it had everything you need if you want to spend some time in catania. we took a taxi from the airport then booked a car from Catania( company recommended by the host). I would definitely recommend as driving at night can be challenging in Sicily.
The property is well located in the center of Catania.
Access is easy and safe via a well-lit street. However, it should be borne in mind that the quarter of streets on the northern side is saturated with immigrants.
The property is well equipped and the stay is hassle-free.
Catania is a very interesting place in Sicily. Many historical monuments and interesting natural surroundings (especially Mount Etna). The history of Catania is rich.
We stayed here twice: before and after a week of sailing. Hotel has easy, 20 min access to the AirPort, 10 min by taxi to plazza del d’uomo. It has a pool, is clean, has working AC, very good and varous breafast, staff speaks english! All the above is not obvious in Sycylia, and in Catania center. What else, which is not common at All, you Can have lunch. Free bar in the room, kettle with coffe
Spacious rooms with either patio or balcony
I have to say the most amazing property. The art and decor are really a feast for the eyes. I wish I had a few days just to really take in the boutique art hotel. My wife and I stayed in the Travelers Suite. It was palatial! The staff was also amazing, and the breakfast was a great way to start the day. I think it was my 10th time to Italy, and Catania is by far the Queen of Cool. Going back next year and staying a week there at least!!!
Extremely kind owner, always willing to fulfil any needs you may have.
Delicious breakfast, arguably the best I have ever had in a b&b or hotel. A lot of breakfast-typical products (like milk, honey, bread, biscuits etc) and you can try different sweet typical from Sicily, of very high quality.
The room is wonderful and perfectly clean, it has a balcony and of course individual bathroom.
I'm amazed by La Casa del Viaggiatore.
Everything! It is very well located, very clean and bed is sooo comfortable. Breakfast they serve is so delicious, and local. Hosts are just the best! We felt like staying at friends place, helping us with anything and providing all the local tips for us. Definitely a place to be when in Catania. For us it was a great location to explore east coast of Sicily.
Also, it is close to metro, and just one station from train.
This apartment is located very close to sea, in the best district in Catania. Luxury hotels in neighborhood, peace and quiet neighbourhood and not so far to train station. Good communication to small beautiful towns: Taormina, Siracusa etc. Apartment is very clean, contains two bedrooms, perfect for two persons if you need more than one room. Fast contact with host, and self-service check in. Good for few days.
Even though the area is residential, the location is great, as you are at a short walking distance away from Catania's sights, which is great. During our stay, we were able to comfortably walk to places, and were close to the train station, which is great, even for traveling to the airport. Also, the staff were very kind and accommodating, and my friend found the boutique element of the hotel charming.
An excellent stay in a historic building, complete with an archway of lava rock from Etna in the room. Celso and the team were so accommodating and welcoming. The room was in the center of the city, yet off the beaten path enough to be private and quiet, in the middle of bustling Catania. Breakfast was delicious, as is the restaurant downstairs. An excellent start to a long trip on the road in Sicily.
Luxurious, spacious, maximum clean apartment, spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds, pleasant and useful interior terrace, building with quiet residents in the heart of Catania. AliBus has arrival and departure stations from/to the airport nearby. Exceptional hosts, an example of how such a business should work, very kind and civilized. Thank you very much! See you next time we arrive in Sicily!
I liked almost everything, staff was super friendly, room was big and nice with blackout options. The shower was amazing. One pillow on the bed was memory foam. That was a very pleasant surprise.
Location in Via Etnea across Villa Bellini is really nice, and it makes for a nice morning walk to the train station as I used Catania as base for exploring the east coast of Sicily.
We came back here on our final day to be close to the airport for our early morning flight. We spent a night one week before at this lovely place and its wonderful owner arriving from Palermo before moving on along the east coast of Sicily. Our opinion has not changed this time, so just check our last review. If we would come back to Catania one day we would stop by again.
Martina is an amazing host! She guided us what to visit in Catania and Sicily, what and where to eat. Organised a wonderful tour to Etna. Her company during the breakfasts was always interesting. Thank you!
Everything in the hotel is perfect. Breakfast was nice as well.
Simple but clean rooms. A family staff ready to share with you suggestion of the city.
Great location, close to restaurant and market areas. Just a few walk from the direct bus to the airport from Catania.
Nice original painting, also oil ones, all around the hotel
We stayed after arriving late into Catania airport so we’re only there for a few hours. Would not base a holiday from this hotel but if you need to be at the airport super early or late then this works fine. Appreciated the airport pick up.
Amazing property , over 200 year old with character , in the center of the city, nicely managed by Marco and Domenico . I wish I could stay longer but I now know where to stay next time I am in Catania , or Sicily for that matter.
Very nice location, all required facilities, clean, very hospitable and helpful owners. The apartment is in the old beautiful building with traditional decorations and furniture letting you feel the flavor of Sicily.
The room was large and decorated so nice! Host Lorajean was very nice. She met us at the airport & gave us a quick tour of Catania on the ride back to hotel. The location is great! Walking distance to everything!
We stayed here on our last night in Sicily prior to flying home. The instructions shared with us for arrival made it easy to access the room. Everything was as expected and we were not missing anything.
The boutique hotel is well positioned, just 5 min walk to the terminal at Catania airport. There is no staff at reception, you receive clear instructions to get in via your mobile phone.
